there's a sweet maker in Athlone - dunnes and supervalue stock their stuff (they're cheap enough and nothing special but still nice) - cough drops, jellies and other boiled hard sweets.

    Other then that

    Clove drops
    Moo Mints
Highland toffee bars (not irish but i like them)
    Black jacks
    liquorice all sorts

or send them a few spuds dipped in suger and tell them that's what we eat for sweets?

Have Family over there and all chocolate is welcome as theirs is very different from ours. Curly Wurly's go down well, Cadbury Buttons (milk/white), Sherbert Dib Dab's, any Irish Crisps but especially Tayto, Mint Areo's, Fry's Chocolate Cream.............you will have great fun putting this together!!:D:D:D

Not sure if good or bad news but the Oatfields sweet production was outsourced years ago. There'll still be plenty of Emeralds whether you stock up or not.

    Caffrey's Time Bars ftw.

An elderly relative of mine was asked for 'a small gratuity' when in a restaurant on his first visit stateside last month.

Apparently the look on the waiter's face was priceless when he promptly gave him a silvermint :pac:

*i will share more of his hilarious adventures stateside in other threads where appropriate.

I got a pack of them about two years ago in a little shop in Cavan. Hadn't seen them before that day, and I haven't seen them since. They were absolutely disgusting btw

Moros, according to my English OH, who claims they're basically just Boost bars.
