    Have you tried your local health food shop? They would probably be the most likely to stock hazelnuts year round.

    Could be a while waiting in the woods. The fruiting season for hazelnut and most other nut bearers (walnut etc.) is early autumn.

    I know you can definitely get them around Halloween, but don't know about this time of year. Just curious, why do you want them in their shells? Good quality shelled hazel nuts really aren't a lot different. I know they look nice in the shells and all that.
