Amsterdam for a month in summer. Tips?

I'm heading to Amsterdam in mid June/July and planning on staying for a month or more. I decided when I found out I could move my Jobseekers Benefit over to anywhere in the EU. Anybody got any tips for cheap living? Things to do in the Dam during the summer? Have you got Jobseekers in another country before? Is there any…
