YES! but seriously I believe that if Liverpool had decided to get serious about signing any of them we wouldn't have Andy Carroll.

Bit tough to them them bought from their clubs, medically examined and fully signed on a day's notice though. The club may even have tried. We don't know.

"Liverpool came to Bilbao and spoke with the club, but it was obvious that they weren't going to sell me,"
"There are people willing to pay 36m euros for my clause. Football is like that. It is crazy."
"I am not going to lie. I grew up watching the Dream Team of Cruyff and I liked Laudrup, Romario, Stoichkov and Ronaldo.
"When you are young, you usually follow the team that wins and that was Barcelona."

No prizes for guessing where he'll probably end up...

Liverpool FC boss Kenny Dalglish urges to AC Milan to play fair over Alberto Aquilani's future
KENNY DALGLISH has urged AC Milan to play fair with Alberto Aquilani as the confusion over the Liverpool FC midfielder’s future continues.

Aquilani is approaching the end of a season-long loan at the San Siro, with Milan having agreed to pay £6million to make the deal permanent once the Italian has played 25 games.

It is understood the Serie A side are reluctant to activate the clause in an attempt to bring Liverpool back around the negotiating table.

However, the Anfield outfit are unlikely to further lower the asking price of a player who cost £17million to sign from Roma in August 2009.

And Dalglish has issued a warning at Milan to stop changing the goalposts.

“I don’t know what to expect of anyone else, but if you think that you are representing your club in a fit and proper manner, that’s your call,” said the Liverpool manager.

“We’ve done everything right from our side. However they want to play it, that is up to them. He is our player. If they don’t want him, then tell the boy.”

It was believed Aquilani’s transfer would proceed given the 27-year-old has made 28 appearances for the Rossonieri already this season.

But, with only 16 having been starting roles, Milan claim under the terms of the agreement that the other 12 substitute outings are regarded as half-appearances, leaving him three short of the trigger figure with five Serie A games remaining.

Milan may now choose to leave Aquilani out of their squad for the rest of the season to prevent him reaching the 25-game mark.

And Dalglish added: “They will do what they have to do. If it doesn’t trigger the clause, it’s not a problem. He’ll be back here. He is our player.

“You can’t predict the future but if that is what is going to happen – him coming back here – no problem.

“He came back last year. He’s a really good trainer, there’s no problem whatsoever. If they don’t want him, it’s disappointing for the boy but we’ll have him.”

Meanwhile, Liverpool have revealed they will be the subject of a fly-on-the-wall documentary chronicling what goes on behind the scenes at Anfield.

The six-part series, which will be entitled ‘Our Liverpool: Never Walk Alone’, will be produced by American television channel FOX Soccer and begins filming in May.

“This is going to be a truly remarkable series for every football fan on earth,” said David Hill, FOX Sports Media Group Chairman.

Liverpool chairman Tom Werner added: “I expect that it will be compelling programming as Liverpool will provide unprecedented access.

“This will be an amazing opportunity for our fans to see a new side of the club and for us to reach out to many more potential supporters around the world who will come to understand what makes Liverpool FC so special.”

The series will start by documenting the conclusion to this season, before following the club through their July tour of North American through to the opening games of the next Premier League campaign.

Well I wasn't specifically referring to the events of 31st Jan 2011. Stupid panic buys.

Wait a sec, is this fly on the wall thing filming the 2012/2013 season? I thought it was this season.

No point in Kenny going public to ask Milan to play fair. Milan (like Juve before them) are just taking advantage of the stupid deal Liverpool made when sending Aquilani out on loan.

Juve and Milan got a great deal. They had the use of Aquilani for a season, and then when the season ends they can just hand the player back if they find what is a better alternative player for their team.

Juve used Aquilani to plug a gap in their team. He did well for them, but come the end of the loan deal they had Vidal lined up to join them, so they just sent Aquilani back to us.

Similar story this season with Milan. They had Aquilani for the season and now they look to be getting a preferred option on a free so most likely they will send Aquilani back as a result.

Would not be surprised to see the player sent out on loan again after the summer and for us to end up losing the player for nowt eventually.

As suggested in the article Kess it may be a case they do actually want Aquilani but believe they can get an even lower fee by re-negotiating than the one triggered by the automatic clause. I think Kenny may just be warning them that they can do one if they think that's the case and we will happily take him back.

To be honest, if Liverpool needed to tell Milan that the player is not going to be sold on the cheap, then the media is not the place to posture over it.

There is already rumours in Italy about how Inter and Napoli are interested in taking the player on loan next season.

Given that Milan seem to be sniffing around Riccardo Montolivo, with a lot of talk about how a pre contract has already been signed by the player, it would seem that Milan are looking to fill that midfield role and have Aquilani as a back up transfer if they fail to get Montolivo.

As I said earlier, Juve did the same when they had Aquilani. They made all the right noise during the first half of the season, then suddenly went quiet in the latter stages and started playing Aquilani less and less. Next thing was the announcement that Aquilani was not going to be bought by them and that they were getting Vidal.

That settles it then, we'll just have to win the league next year.

Not really a typical Barca player but I think he'd be very good for them. Exactly the player they needed against Chelsea.

What about the 'Liverpool Way' business behind closed doors and all that?

If an agreement was made and they are operating within the terms of that agreement then resorting to trying to shame them into taking him off your hands is all you can do. However, it probably won't work, you look a little desperate and you may end up trying to convince the press that you want a player that you have tried to get rid of.

Not many secrets been left out of the bag there in fairness.
He's a Liverpool player on loan already with an option to buy.
If Milan don't take up that option he returns to Liverpool.
It's all common knowledge so I don't see the problem.

Fiorentina were the latest club in Italy to be linked with Aquilani last weekend, pretty much a like for like replacement for Monolivio who will be a Milan player more than likely.

Said it before, but I just want a conclusion to this seemingly never ending saga as it is beyond tedious and ridiculous for that matter. Of course, I'd love to keep him but so long as he wanted to to stay and give 100%. But if he wants out, just get rid asap before we lose him for next to nothing.. which is what I also see happening if I'm honest. Again, I just want it concluded really no matter the outcome.

Would be on the same page as you tbh. Either sell the guy or play him until his contract runs out. Sending him out on loan season after season and paying a large % of his wages whilst he is on loan is madness.

We should going sniffing again for Adam Johnson or even Dzecko .

Adam Johnson is a decent player but we would have to pay the English player premium so no thanks. I don't rate Dzecko any higher than Carroll tbh.

I'm a bit wary of Adam Johnson for some reason. Cant quite put my finger on it.

I wouldn't sign Adam Johnson to be honest.
I don't think he's good enough. He's a bit of an enigma IMO

    Seriously ? Really . Ok !

I just think Johnson would be a big upgrade on what we have today. Yes the price tag could be a big problem.

But to say Dzeko and Carroll are on a par is (IMO) very very wrong.

He seems like he might work as a striker but as far as I can see he's a one-trick pony. Not a bad trick, by any means, but I still don't think he gives enough to the team in general.

If we could get him on loan that might make sense.

For a permanent solution I rather we looked to Europe.

Johnson is a talented player from what I've seen, better than the likes of pace merchants such as Walcott, SWP and Lennon in regards to English wingers. But I have always had some doubts about him. He seems content to be a bench warmer, maybe I'm wrong and he'll push for a move elsewhere in the summer. But it was fairly clear he wasn't going to get much of a look in even if Mancini said he did rate the player. Could be horribly wrong but it's in my mind anyway, but I think there were stories he's enjoying the high life quite a bit ie: out partying, in bars and clubs till all hours, etc.

Not just that, it's insulting to Dzeko.

Totally agree. Dzeko has had far less minutes on the pitch this season for City than Carroll has had for us yet has more goals to his name. Dzeko is still close to a goal every two games he is involved with( and I am including the 8 games in which he came on after the 82 minute as games for arguements sake)

Carroll with more minutes played is looking at a goal every 8 or so games.

Dzeko has a striker's goals to game ratio, whereas Carroll has one that would not be outstanding for a midfielder.
