I truly do miss being involved in the big European nights.

    We shall return one day.

From watching that video if luck had been a little different Downing would be seen as a good buy Suarez would be up with the top goal scores even hendo would be after a good season!

Reminds me of that Jay Jay Okocha season with Bolton. The previous year he scored a nice few, 7 in the league. But the next season he just couldn't score in the league. IIRC he hit the woodwork more than any other player that year, and according to ESPN soccernet, had 110 shots!

The following season, he got 6 in the league.

This season hopefully is just a similar anomaly.

Is Chelsea winning Good or bad for us re the Cup final? Will their minds be elsewhere?

Hopefully they will be distracted too much for the FA Cup final and lose that to us, although half their team is suspended for the final so they will be playing anyhow.

    No.

    New here?

All my initial disgust at him leaving has died out after watching how bad it had worked out for him at Chelsea.

God I am exhausted after that.

Nights like tonight are the reason I want us back in the champions league. **** the cups.

Can't begrudge them that after that display. Di Mateo seems to have the Rafa touch in European football.

    Delighted for Torres.

2 weeks between the cup finals but I don't think it will have a huge bearing on their state of mind come kick off at Wembley - Certainly for Ramires, Meireles and of course 'captain fantastic' himself!

Bit lucky in comparison but was familiar at times to 'Pools epic Stadio Del Allpi performance in 05.

Yep, we are well used to displays like tonight under Rafa.

Fair play to Torres, as long as he doesn't do the same against us at Wembley or at Anfield.

Torres is still crap lads, a lucky breakaway goal doesn't make him Marco Van Basten.

Fair play to Chelsea though, magnificent defensive performance

To the guy that said the champions league wasn't memorable, I sincerely hope you were watching.

Just on the Kenny thing, I keep thinking of an article posed a couple of times in the English Independent pointing out the lack of support and advice for him, starting with the Suarez thing, poor legal advice ad Commoli wasn't up to it as a DoF type.

If Kenny is to stay, there needs to be a root and branch reform of the support levels given to him. The legal advice in the Suarez case a classic example of poor advice.

As for the Liverpool way, the Liverpool way is to acknowledge when you are outplayed, applauding Arsenal in 1989 a perfect example, the problem is we've seen it far too often lately, particularly this season.

As for getting behind the team, with Anfield so quiet, I'm afraid Kess seems to be the exception to the rule. I've my doubts about Dalglish and his signings but when Carroll scores a match winning goal, I'll rub it in to his doubters because I hope it means it's the start of something. I'll carry that onto the next match, but it seems there's an inevitable doom expected by the majority of home support at matches. Yeah, Liverpool aren't where we expect but we've a record to defend, to get above our lowest placed level in 50 years.

That's a target that means a lot to me, as much as a Cup Final.

To all the Liverpool fans saying 2005 final was more dramatic, I don't recall that being played at the Nou Camp. But whatever you say...

Excellent away performance topped off with a goal from an ex Liverpool striker! Well done David Ngog and Bolton!

Sickening though is'nt it. Mascherano,Torres,Arbeloa,Alonso,Meireles all in the latter stages of the champions league all gone because of the fcukwittery of Hicks and Gillette. They really put us back at least 10 years and nearly made the club fold up shop.

I saw nothing dramatic about it,
It was meant to be yes,
As the two games made no sense what so ever,
