I've already mentioned that incident but the way you've worded this annoys me

It's genuinely as though Suarez is exempt from being criticised because he works so many openings - but at the end of the day he didn't do what was required of him - he shot when he should've passed which he CONSTANTLY does and it's infuriating.

If I was playing on the same team as Luis yesterday I'd have lost it completely with him.

He has been the one bright spark of our season and one of the few who looks like he's a quality player but if Carroll had done what Suarez did yesterday there'd be a few pages of whining on this thread without doubt.

Maybe one of the reasons Suarez shoots so much is because so often he has nobody in the box to pass to? Granted Suarez can be wasteful, but if he does not have a striker in the box (or other players coming from deep or wide positions) with him then shooting is his only option.

Put someone like Welliton, or Huntelaar into yesterday's team instead of Carroll and I am sure the result would have been very different and that Suarez would have linked with them many times during the game.

I think Mario Gomez would have got a hat trick yesterday

Probably true, but methinks he would cost a lot more than either of the two I mentioned.

His value has risen significantly since Liverpool last were in for him

And rightly so. The man has been a goal machine since we were linked to him

His movement in the box is excellent...he isn't a natural finisher but he is constantly running across defenders in and around the box.

Don't get carried away. Only a rumour. Could turn out to be horsesh1t and wouldn't be the first time

He always seems to be in the right position.
Looks simple but if it was every striker would do it.

I think there is possibly a trust issue there too. Seems to get his head up more and pick out Maxi, and Gerrard when he has played. Compared to when at Ajax and Uruguay, no question he is far and away more selfish whatever the case maybe in front of goal for us.

If he is not, then he has been doing a pretty good impression of one this season and last in particular. 39 goals from 45 games last season, and he is on 40 goals from47 games top date this season.

201 goals from 336 games to date is also a pretty impressive career stat.

I completely misread that as Xabi Alonso.
The heart sees what it wants I guess.

Is a new manager needed? I can think of strong arguements as to why one is needed, but at the same time I can certainly think of reasons for the current one to stay as long as he is able to be utterly ruthless this summer with the squad and be open to bringing in genuine talent and not just look at British muck.
    .

Excellent post Kess and it sums up my exact feelings and more.

As for the above quoted paragraph.... I said it yesterday, Rafa Benitez is this ruthless character !

For all the giving out people did about him (Rafa) being disjointed , cold and almost autistic towards the squad , I would rather that and more if the alternative is the total disrespectful , diluted and apathetic performances a player gives a manager that has been nothing but a person who took all the slack , defended and been way too close (on a friendly basis) to the squad we see today .

Give me a cold hearted bastard of a manager for this summer that clears out - benchmarks - are clearly sets a standard that must be met by EVERYONE .

This pally pally crap has only brought Kenny down and it frustrates the crap out of me to see the lack of respect he has got back.

Question is, does anyone really believe this is likely to happen given what happened last Summer? I'm far from convinced.

Kenny can be ruthless. Just ask John Aldridge.

Anyone else shed a slight tear watching Arbeloa do a job against Barcelona in the Nou Camp on Saturday? Losing both him and Xabi in the one summer, wow. :(

He is a player than most overlook in terms of being a loss to the team. Excellent fullback (on either side) and far better at linking play when going forward than he gets credit for. Fantastic engine on him as well. In many ways he was our Dennis Irwin. Rarely got lots of praise of credit, but did a very good job week after week. Just was so consistent.

Once he had his bust up with Carra, the writing was on the wall...

He was a loss to the squad, no doubt, but I can't honestly say I've thought much about him in the last two years. I guess, because we're pretty well stocked at right back now with Kelly and Johnson.

New shift in policy since Camoli is now gone.

    I'd imagine so.

I'm guessing Ngoo is missing from that team?

Fair enough, I should probably have caveated my comments with from what I have seen of him. My point was regarding his technical abilities, he appears to have movement strength and his record has been great for the last 2 years.

He was also seen as an ineffective big man a few years back given the faults in his technique but his movement has always set him apart for me.

Nah, sorry Eccleston. The subs are Ward, Smith, Roddan, Ngoo, Morgan.

Selling him was one thing but selling him on the cheap was stupid.
