Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi all,
First time posting in this neck of the woods.
I have always been a Mustang lover.
Nothing quite gets me going like one, for some reason.
But I do like all classic cars and will always stop if I can for a snoop!

I'm sure its been seen already but I saw no posts about this one:

An unusual kit for a 68 Mustang, I'm not sure about it at all, but for €6,500 its a decent start.
    Anyone know anything about this?
    D

That's one fugly Mustang and has been for sale for ever! Seller must have photoshopped the pics to make it look shiney but the end result makes it look like a toy car. It's a coupe not a fastback and if I remember right it's a striaght 6 not a V8. On the plus side it is manual. It's been for sale for so long on and off the last few years that I would suspect there's a terminal issue with it. For that sort of money you would be better off looking for a Camaro / Firebird.

    Thanks for that!
I have seen a couple of really nice camaro's online recently, but for me, its Mustang all the way!

I suppose its all a pipe dream though, because I have no garage to store anything in. How do classic owners without garages do that?
I live near the sea too, North Co. Dublin.

Here's a quirk in the rules. Because it has less than 6k up on the clock, the revenue will consider it a new car and charge VRT accordingly. That thing could cost thousands to bring in here.

Just did the exercise. VRT is only €4,619 .....yup you've read that right.

I was in the same boat - wanted a FB but wouldn't settle for a coupe, ended up with a Trans Am. The GM's are great little cars, easy to work on and fairly reliable. You could always invest in a Carcoon.

Isn't it date of first registration or manufacture.
I've had two vehicles registered on date of manufacture rather than first registered date, but that was with the old system in the local coco office.
I dont know what the NCT are doing,it should be the same.

Yes you're right but just go to the VRT calculator and input 92 miles to see what happens. Revenue treat it like a new car.

A car can knock up 10 miles being moved around before it even gets to the showroom. 22 miles is less than one return trip to work and back in most normal peoples' world. Second, you clearly have no idea what "road worthy" means.Honestly. Every time you post a comment on an internet forum all you do is broadcast to the world how thick you are. I wonder why do you bother. We already know."

    Oh Ray !!!
Ray is embarassing himself here, as the odometer shoes 92 miles, and the tripmeter shows 39 (miles also). I presume this has been pointed out to him in a later comment on that page - I didn't check.

Came across an 00 reg W210 one day but it looked identical to my 97 W210, checked chassis no with MB dealer. This 97 had been lying unsold in Ireland, was moved to UK and sold eventually in 2000 with 2000 UK reg, then it came back to IRL as an import but got 00 reg here. Always check the chassis no !

About 10 yrs ago a similar situation arose with an unregistered Irish car,
The conversation went somthing like this.
VRT inspector "what's the mileage ?".
    Car owner "85mls"
    VRT man "85.000mls."
    Car owner" 85mls".
    VRT man "85.000mls"
    Car owner "no it's 85mls".
VRT man "You're not listening to me, 85.000mls".
Car owner "Oh I get you, 85.000mls."
VRT man "That'll be €50 please

Actually. That's not even delivery milage. The car wasn't driven at all. It has been "rolled" the distance. As the article says, the car was delivered without ever have had fluids in it.

And they are worth up to £10000 so he asks €4000 which you can spend 8k on to restore . Well if that's a good idea maybe buying one for 10 k now and saving yourself endless headaches and searching for parts is a much better idea.
