lol at that article, as always someone somewhere will find something to moan about. Who looks at the soles of runners anyway. Although it does look like a griffin.

Rafa spent 7 mil on Dossena, a very poor buy. Turned out to be worse than the 2 left backs we already had.

Have you actually watched Dossena play for Napoli? Quality full back imo.

Wrong, he is a good wing back. A terrible full back though. I'll always have fond memories of him just for those 2 goals in march '09 though :)

O'Hanlon the kid we have at u16 level who I think Jayob10 talked about as the most exciting Irish prospect in years played for Ireland tonight. Scored one and setup two other goals.

Rafa is on the record as saying that the reason he bought Dossena and Johnson (both attacking fullbacks with questionable defending ability) is because the team needed an attacking threat down the flanks, and that his budget never allowed him to add a top-class winger (see Mark Gonzales, Nunez, Pennant, Riera), so it was cheaper and more effective to have the attacking width coming from the full backs.

People complained when Rafa set up his team 'safety first', and they complained when he set up his team to take more risks. He was damned if he did, damned if he didn't.

We really are going all out for youth talent which is good to see. Hopefully something more immediate can be bought in the summer as well.

Hamburg have made the first official move for Dirk Kuyt after their sporting director Frank Arnesen admitted he wants to sign him at the end of the season.
Kuyt is one of several fringe players Liverpool will look to offload this summer and has been made available at £1million.

That's what I like to hear....once we don't sell him back too soon like I think we did with Mikel San Jose

Unless that's in his contract, selling him for that little would be pathetic. It's not like he's 34.

Kenny softening us up for Rafa's return :P...
Kenny Dalglish has paid tribute to former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez for his Academy legacy.

Benitez was responsible for bringing Pep Segura, Rodolfo Borrell and Frank McParland to Kirkby three years ago.
The trio have overseen a significant increase in the number of youth internationals being schooled by Liverpool, while players like Jon Flanagan, Raheem Sterling and Jack Robinson have been given first-team chances.

"I think it's been fantastic and it's a great credit to the changes that Rafa made three years ago, bringing in Pep, Rodolfo and Frankie," the gaffer told LFC TV after helping to welcome 22 new under-8 players to the Academy on Thursday.
"The way it has moved forward is a credit to anyone who has helped in any way, shape or form.
"It was Rafa who brought these people in and we should always be grateful to him for doing that.
"In years to come, if we get some players through it, I'm sure he'll be just as proud as any of the players are. And he should be proud about what he's set up here."

So then West Brom, does anyone care? Will Dalglish play any jokers? Will he start Carroll?
    Agger/Skrtel? (please!)

I think if this story is true and he's available on the cheap it's because they want his 80k per week off the wage bill?

I'd definitely love to see Coates and Shelvey getting a run of games. And i think we should have the likes of Sterling and Suso on the bench, just to give them a bit of big match experience, even if they don't get on the pitch!

Would love to see Agger score.

I'm maybe one of Carroll's bigger criticisers and I still have major doubts about whether he has a future at the club, but he HAS to start against WBA imo. Has to be given the chance to build on his confidence and score again.

Would like to see Sterling on the bench also

His job will be decided by the Cup Final imo, rightly or wrongly.

I have read that as soon as Kenny took over the kid was one of his main priorities. Seems we went to some lengths to get him if Kenny was flying over to visit the family :) More than likely we should get a look at him next season as expect he will be moving up to the u18's.

Does anyone know anything about this Finnish kid from this thread?

Had a trial at Liverpool for a week apparently?

Not to sure, i reckon his CC victory could be enough to keep him in the job.

Although an F.A Cup win confirms he stays for another season imo.

This Aquilani deal seems like a never ending saga.

The latest is that his agent has said it's not a case of 25 games to make the deal automatic but 25 points. A start is worth 1 point and a sub appearance is worth half a point. He's currently on 22.5 points with 5 games left.

That is quite possibly the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Will this ever end?

By all accounts, his future seems undecided. Apparently his father is a Liverpool fan, god knows if thats true.

I'm sure Kenny cares about his job.

The paying fans also care for one!

Would love to see the players fight for cup final places and finish the league season well.

Jasus does NOBODY want to sign him? He must be getting a metric fu¢k-tonne of cash every week given what clubs seem to be willing to do to weasel out of signing him permanently.
