Pannier rack for racing bike

Hell I've looked and i cannot decide what is the best rear pannier rack for long distance cycle touring have you any suggestions to which one works best im looking for a nice lightweight pannier rack that is sturdy enough to fit on my trek racing bike. Cheers CH

what about bike bags google bikepacking for loads of info on lightweight touring. or a beamrack fits the seatpost might be a better option

I'd go for something like this with the extra rail at the back to limit any chance the panniers will swing into the spokes.

I had one similar to that and broke many spokes when the bags swung (swang?) into the wheels on my commute.

Good suggestions Pete. I was interested in the possibility of a tour using my new Carbon Orbea. Below is a more expensive idea. What about the extra attachment that goes under skewers. Any idea where I gould get them separatly. I was thinking of the top bracket going onto seat post. Do you think that would be detrimental to bike frame.

As for touring on carbon, I dunno. I wouldnt personally. But....Mark beaumont had his front panniers mounted on a carbon fork and made it the length of the Americas. And with those adapters the weight wouldn't be acting through the frame as much as if the rack was frame mounted. You'd have to ask an engineer I suppose. I am an engineer but not one that knows anything about forces and materials.:o

Wouldn't be a fan of touring on carbon either. I used a BBB carrier that fitted to my seat post last year but I tour ultra light so it maybe different to what you plan on doing.
