Anyone ever use HTC directly for screen repair

So I totalled the screen on my Sensation last night. Rang HTC up this morning to see if they could recommend a repair service in Ireland and they said that they could pick up the phone, assess the damage and give me a quote. I explained that it was just the screen but she wouldn't provide me with a quote for repair.

Just wondering if anyone has ever used HTC for repair and if so what price am I looking at for a replacement screend vs. getting it repaired independently

If so

It is still in warranty but the damage is my fault so isn't covered under warranty.

According to the T&Cs I should have received a quote for repair based on the description I gave to the customer service rep.

Will call again tomorrow to quote their own T&Cs to them.

In the meantime anyone else use HTC for screen repair??

My son cracked the screen on his Sensation last week so I contacted http://brokenscreen.ie/.

They've quoted me €89 for a collect and return repair - which seems reasonable enough.

Has anyone ever used these guys?

I phoned HTC this morning and demanded a quote for repair based on the T&Cs Jarren pointed me to. The price they quoted based on the symtoms I described is £60-£150 for parts, plus labour and shipping, plus VAT. I'm going on the basis that it'll cost £150 for parts (these things are always at the top end of prices quoted) so I'm looking at around £200 sterling for a fix.:eek:

Think I'll look elsewhere!!

Touch Screen and Digitizer is about E30 if you fancied giving it a go yourself.
I smashed my xl and am doing that. Reason being, fonemenders, GSM solutions and Moore St et all don't have the part, and the best quote I got to order it in and do the work was 150.

I did think about trying it myself but having watched a howto video of a repair I think it might be outside my comfort zone. Given the prices I'm hearing I'm half tempted to try!!

I got my desire s screen fixed by HTC UK .They will only quote you for a full refurb of the phone,or send it back to you at a cost of 25 quid.Mine cost €190.

Aye my sensation screen is broken in an arc along the left edge, they quoted 150 yoyos for repair, fonemenders I think.

Vid of how to do it yourself here, tools and a new screen cost about 30 yoyos on ebay. I have changed screens before, but sadly thsi one involves almost completely disassembling the phone, might give it a go if I need to sell it.
