well starting in mizen head and heading bantry/glengarriff then going to do the beara pen up to kenmare might do the ring of kerry if not from kenmare we will head to killarney and hopefully dingle .slea head..
back to tralee straight up to tarbert ferry to killimer and the coast on to milltown malbay.wing it from there i think.
trying to cover 50 mile a day
so what do you think good route or is there better options for us ,i don't want to spend the entire tour climbing big hills ;)
anyway your input would be appreciated.

Campsite 2k south of Glengarrif (Dowlings) I think and a very small one next door!.Great cheap hostel in Allihies down at end of Beara, another campsite in Laragh on western side of Healy pass. In Killarney site on left as you enter town (whites bridge?) is by far the quietest, out west there used to be a site in Gallerus but dont know if it is still there, the site in Dingle is sadly gone. Know west Cork well, very hilly, if weather is bad can become very hard work especially western side of Beara, but thats not going to happen calm days all the way!.When are ye off? little jealous have fun.

If your doing Malin to Mizen what about crossing Galway Bay by ferry. You can get a ferry from Doolin to the Aran Islands, maybe Inismore, explore it by bike, spend a night out there and then get a ferry to Rossavel the next day. I am planning to do this some time in the summer it will cost about 23 euro as the bike goes free.

60 minutes from Doolin to Inishmore
    http://www.aran-island-ferry.com
There seem to be three different companies sailing this route with 2 or 3 sailings a day each.

Inismore to Rossavel is about 40 minutes. Lots of info about the ferries here
    http://www.aranisland.info/ferries.html

http://www.aranislands.ie/ is a good site for info on the islands, There seems to be camping on all the island.

As long as you give yourself plenty of time finding somewhere nice and out of the way is easy peasy. No need to pay for campsites in Ireland :)

Canis Lupus is right lots of free camping places in Ireland. I always look for places where there is public access to a lakeshore, beach, or river bank. I don't always camp wild but if I find a good spot I do. Rural Ireland is a very safe place.

Best free campsite I found last year was at Kilglass Lough in north Roscommon, near Strokestown. It's at the harbor where the cabin cruisers dock. Mowed lawn, water on tap, picnic tables, a skip for rubbish and lights that go out around midnight. Arrived at dusk and left early. It's a very good stop off if you are cycling to the West and cross the Shannon at Termonbarry.

No harm in that the lads here are great for shareing info;)
so have you got you route planned, i think for the most part we will just wing it we kinda intend following the coast all the way but more than likely we wont:D:D especally as i'm reading the map god help us.

not as yet...have only just decided to definitely do it. have been focussing more on the kit etc so far.
i like the idea of the coastal route but the weight of the bike & kit might dictate that i have to stay to as flat a route as possible. i generally love climbs too so that might cause the biggest issue for me!

well after sorting out my kit list a million times i will be using 4 panniers ,i can get everything into the rear one but there way over packed so it front panniers as well,, i will be camping all the way so thats extra weight as well, but listen if i can't make the big hills i'll walk up them i could be doing a lot of walking on this tour :D:D

There is a nice quiet campsite between the Killimer Car Ferry and Kilrush town. it might suit you, Ayllvaroo is the name of it. You could also camp in The caravan parks in Quilty or Spanish Point if you are taking the road from Killimer to Doolin.

    excellent thanks for that one.
i was kinda thinking weather permitting what if we head to one of the aran islands inismore spend the night and then head to rossaveel, i think some one said galway is dodgy for cycling so we could avoid galway by going that route any thoughts anyone.
    thanks.
