Making firewood from cleared scrubland

Ok, I have just cleared a couple of acres of scrub. Mainly blackthorn and furze.
I have cut away the main trunk from the blackthorn trees, and chopped into suitable lengths to burn in the stove.
Now I am left with a big heap of the heads of the blackthorn and all the thorny light branches. How could I make good use of these for firewood or even mulch?
Is there a machine I could hire, which would chop / refine into small chips for firewod of even finer chips for mulch?
    Just wondering??

You could hire a chipper or a shreader, probably about a 6 inch would do the job, but use caution or you will end up chipped. (ear defenders, plastic hat and face mesh, gloves and no loose clothing and be aware where the cut off is.)

    a 6inch shredder/mulcher is approx €180 a day to hire for a diesel one.

why not contact your local co co and tell them you want to burn it as its natural vegitation.
