New car

Ok. Never started one of these before purely because i knew what i wanted before.

Now, i haven't a clue.

Criteria,

Medium saloon/estate.
2.0 diesel ish
Blue's, silvers, blacks or greys. NO reds, of flat colours.

Service history, nct etc. doesn't bother me a whole pile.

Budget, between 4-5 grand. Looking to come up to a 03-05 for that money, which i think is do able.

Mileage doesn't bother me at all, as long as it's reflected in the price (Resale value).

Really liking the Jaguar X types, woudn't touch a Mondeo.

Gearbox fault would be a big worry on that car.

Is X-Type v Mondeo a stylistic choice rather than an anti-Ford or Mechanical one? At first sale, the X Types had to be discounted below Mondeo prices but I believe that they have stronger residuals.

i've seen most of those.

At MidlandsM, that looks a good buy, but it's a tad over what i would realisticly spend on a car and leaves little room for error.

i've been considering just saving the money and buying a banger!

I've a soft spot for an A4 / A6 Avant Quattro myself. You would be talking a 1.9 smoker then LM, propbably not get any newer than '01 with that budget as they still fetch good wonga.
