Why, it was one of the many devices sent down from heaven by our lord saviour, the blessed Steve Jobs. Hallowed be his name.

We used to go to shops, buy books, cds , dvds, in 20 years time most people will have a tablet, most media will be downloaded or streamed.
Students will have all courses on 1 tablet ,no need to carry books.CDS ,books will be like vinyl records ,only bought by a minority.
KIDS might only need to go to school for 3 days, ie you could just logon , like skype, and 1 teacher could teach 50 students, thru video streaming .Perhaps by that time there will be a decent broadband service ,outside ,dublin and other citys.
THE government will give everyone a online account ,which will have your tax and medical information.
by that time you,ll be able to pay for everything with your phone, or some type of electronic device, so if you wanted you,d never need to use cash.
half of dublin will speak in a mid atlantic dart accent and use stupid american slang, ie you guys, i,m totallly over this , local slang, accents may disappear.

WE may drop compulsory irish in schools,
ie our education system will be dragged into the 20th century if not the 21st.
ie everyone has a tablet, do your homework on it,click upload.
ALL subjects will be in the form of electronic books, with
video clips and 3d interactive diagrams,
eg for chemistry you can examine molecules ,dna strands from any angle.
every page would have links to video,or audio clips.

I don't believe we'll be that much further along . I remember watching a documentary called 'Back to the Future (Part 2) circa 1985 and the scientist in it went forward to the year 2015. They had hoverboards and automatic drying machines in the street! FFS no sign of them yet.

    Ditto Beyond 2000
    Ditto Tomorrow's World

    Lies. It's all lies

But instead we got free streaming pornography. Not a bad trade off. Also addressing the elephant in the room: Hoverboards don't really look like that much fun

its funny films ,tv seem the future seem to emphasise flying cars, modes of transport, theres no sign of the internet apart from video phones.NOT many writers predicted the internet ,or that everyone would have pcs or tablets with instant message apps on them.AND
people would just take a pill for nutrition.

Yeah, there was far greater difference in my parents lifetime than mine will have.

Most of that is here now? However the education sector will be slower, and accents won't disappear.

Actually no, scratch that. I'll never be nostalgic for this cesspit, where ill-informed opinion masquerades as fact.

My younger age, I am very nostalgic about that, I am increasingly aware how fast time goes and life is over in a flash.

There really is no time to waste.

Nostalgia is not what it used to be.
