Ford Fiesta Width

Hi all - I'm looking at changing my car and from my research so far a Ford Fiesta seems the best choice. I would actually prefer the shape of the older (02-08) model - on the basis that the rear window is higher on the newer model.

However, I checked the dimensions on two different UK websites and to my surprise it appears that the 02-08 model is quite a bit wider (1907mm) compared to the 08- model (1695mm) and the Toyota Yaris (1695mm).

So, my question is, has anyone else noticed this larger width when actually driving a Fiesta? Does this sound correct?

I'll be changing from a Peugeot 206, and my priorities are:
    - Reliability (no French cars!)
    - Smallish size to park, and get through tight spots
    - Ability to cope at motorway speeds (so probably ruling out the Yaris).

Would anyone have any other suggestions? :)

does that width include wing mirrors or something.

To put in perspective, My jaguar is 1819mm wide not counting wing mirrors.

The discrepancy in width is down to the fact that sometimes people like to include the mirrors, and other times they don't - the previous model Fiesta's width is includes the mirrors, whereas for the new model and the Yaris you're not including them! Go for the Fiesta regardless - it's a much nicer car than the Yaris and just as reliable (which is to say it is extremely unlikely to let you down in any way once it's serviced on time)!

    Wiki says 1685mm

Just an error on Parkers I'd say.

    Thanks for the speedy feedback!

Yes. I took all those measurements from the same website, Parkers, and it seems odd that they would use a different measurement basis on the same site. At 1907 the Fiesta would be wider than a Mazda 6.

Time to go viewing some Fiestas...
