    Why don't the Government allow these over here? Or do they?

    In the UK I see they make a tidy sum from selling them.

    They're not personalised or private, just a reserved number. It's simply a guarantee that you'll get a specific number out of the sequence for that year and county, when that number is about to be issued. They follow the same format as unreserved number plates.

    And theres no need for them ether imo. Theres a whole car there to "personalise" .The number plate serves a function (and an important one at that) and should be left alone.

    But are the UK numbers mentioned in OP the real personal plates?
    Or is it the same as here, that you can just buy or reserve a plates, which fall into stardard format but mean something to you.

    F.e. their format is two letters two numbers and three letters. First two letters is area code. Two numbers is first registration year (or rather half year) and last three letters are random.

    So I understand you can get something like "PH-55-EVO" which would could be desirable for 55 year old Paddy Hastings driving mitsubishi evo.
    But could you get something totaly personlized like "TOO FAST" or sth?
