I've just been in centra and watched three approx 17 year olds trying to scan in a packet of chewing gum on a lotto machine to get a price, after the first 4 tries they got a different brand and after that failed to work they insisted on skipping the que to get a price off the woman at the till!
What bugged me the most though, when she said 65cent, they said ah it's ok it's cheaper in spar and left..

I hope for their sake it was a p!ss take! They were very straight faced and confused to why it wouldn't work.

Im known for doing/asking stupid questions, but it's usually drunk or hung over, that lot looked and spoke like they were sober.

Wow what are the odds of finding friends that were also dropped on their heads as children?

What? Why would you scan food on a lotto machine? I didnt even know that was possible.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 21,981 ✭✭✭✭Hanley

That is absolutely hilarious. I'm definitely doing that. THink I'll bring my lotto ticket to tesco next time and start scanning it and acting confused when it does nothing too.

how exactly would a lotto machine tell them the price of chewing gum? :D Besides every shop like Centra should have the chewing gum packets price tagged...

I think they thought it was a price checker one like in Tesco.

Machines got a lotto logo on the front of it, and the stand with the gum had got prices, but it was quite small, I just thought it was hilarious..

Do you have to wonder though, op? You could just make a snap judgement about their mental capacity and mark it down as another reason why the lower orders should not be allowed breed.

I wonder how three of them hadn't the sense to figure it out between them, surely everyone has some level of intelligence

I work in a customer-facing role in my job. People are this stupid.

I see things every single day that i have a hard time believing that the people doing them are that dumb. We are a rather dim species because we save the stupid ones.

Did you check that the fourth one wasn't nicking your wallet while the three distracted you?

Why weren't they asking you to buy them alcohol or out on the streets committing crimes?

    Freaks.

And to top it all off, they don't even know it.

I was at the self-checkout in Dunnes yesterday, I'd finished with my stuff, and was packing up, when a couple at the one next to mine had theirs repeatedly tell them to 'place item in bagging area'. they were touching the screen, looking around, repeatedly trying to scan the item again. SHE'S TELLING YOU WHAT TO DO! all you have to do is listen to her!!!

I decided to help them out, I turned and said you have to put it down there. they both looked at me with blank expressions. after a second or two the girl finally copped (that I was talking to them, or what I was talking about) and did it. ****in fools.

Saddest part is that three 17 year olds and that couple obviously never had to work in a shop before. Wonder if their worthless asses ever had a job that wasn't with a college degree

Of course, Why wouldn't I be? Or am I being too harsh because they can't get jobs because of the recession or some crap like that?

I never had to work in a shop before. Not all jobs are shop jobs.

So you don't know how to use a scanner? What did you do that you never had exposure to a scanner or till?

It's unlikely 17 year olds would have college degrees?

Good Friday, the alcohol section was fenced in, plus it was after the closing time for shops etc

Oh I've seen that a couple of times, mostly in superquinn in rathgar, the self service at one of the exits is reversed, the amount of people it catches out!
When your scanning your stuff you've to go from left to right, and direct your shopping away from the door, majority of people scan right to left and put the stuff onto the little shelf rather than the scales, then stand there confused..

One woman put the cash into the slot for used vouchers too, she was there ages trying to fish it out with her keys!? the manager was out and had the only key!

Yep, retails a bitch. I once had a woman try to insert her credit card into her own iphone instead of the chip n pin device in front of her.
