Is it a good idea to ask a girl out with whom (as of yet) I don't seem to have a mass amount of rapport with?

No, get to know her first.

But do you mean ask out as in on a date or to be your girlfriend?

Why would you want to ask her out in the first place if you don't have any rapport with her? That being said, sure, what have you got to fear..

I know her casually, but there doesn't seem to be that spark (but that can develop if I get her out on a date).

Generally speaking can u ask a girl out if the rapport ain't there first?

I cant really see there being a spark on a date if there isnt a spark when you are just casually talking. Sure, you will be one on one and getting to know each other more on a date, but your same personalitys will still be present.

To answer your question, yes you can, you can do what ever you want. Personally I would not bother.

Well see if you can get her out with a group of people. An activity rather than drinking. This way it would be a more relaxed environment and you can see if you have a rapport with her.

If that goes well then ask her out on a date.
