Cinema prices

Just wondering what the prices you pay for the cinema around the country. my friend in Galway was telling me she paid €14 for her ticket. (what a rip off) it's €9 in mayo.

12:50 in UCI here...if I go to Galway it's 14, only 9 in Mayo though.

€8 for student and about €12 or more for a normal ticket in Waterford. Rip off. I heard its dirt cheap up in Belfast.

In Dublin it's €9.50 for adult
€7.50 student

€14 is shocking !

I think alot less people are paying the rip-off prices for the food/drinks, so they're having to up ticket prices to compensate

In downtown Boston, its only $12 a ticket...but then i went and spent $17 on a large popcorn and drink

Im still amazed that i paid 14Euro in Mahon Point in Cork over christmas thats $18!!

Its $6 more in a suburb of Cork, a city of 200,000 compared to Boston with a population of 4,000,000+.

No wonder the country is fcuked.

anywhere from 7 to 11 in any of the cinemas in the Sth east. So happy I hate popcorn!

Never will understand(unless somebody now explains it to me) why it doesn't make more sense to charge €4(€5 on fri and sat) and have a full cinema than to charge more than 10.

Cinemas in Belfast are generally £3 on a tuesday and wednesday and absolutely buzzing those nights. The normal price is £5-6.

They have kids matinees on sat and sunday for £1.50 for adults and kids.

I can't/won't hand over 25 quid in Waterford for two cinema tickets, especially not when I have the internet, a white wall and and LCD projector and a decent set of speakers.

Can't beat it. Go twice and you've got it paid for. Cineworld tend to have a decent enough showing of different types of film for that type of card to be worthwhile.

It's 8.60 for adult peak times. 6 something when off peak. The movie that's on 12.30 every Sunday is only 2.50 because it's the Kidz Club. That's Kilkenny by the way.

I don't get it - why should the size of a city have a bearing on cinema prices?

And are expensive cinema tickets the hidden reason for our downfall?

Cineworld is great if you have the card, i dont have a laser card yet so i dont have that privilage :pac:, but for their cheap tuesdays at 6.50 all day/night, then savoy, omniplex and the screen charging from 5e to 8.70 tis not bad at all really!

id get the popcorn etc in the cinema as a treat rarely, but it is a big rip off tbh, unless its butter popcorn in uci or the icecream in cineworld

I enjoy the cinema experience. Everytime I go I'll spend about €20 - €10 on the ticket and €10 on a large combo. I know it's expensive but I enjoy the experience. Plus now my local has a loyalty card program, I'll get either a free ticket or free large combo every 4th time I go.

Its unusual that somewhere in Ireland is dearer then Dublin in anything. Anytime I am down the sticks things seem a lot cheaper from drink, restaurants even petrol.

Being a business in Dublin seems to give them a licence to rip us Dubs off. But I suppose rents and overheads are higher up here.

True, but I generally see the cinema as a night out. That is the principle reason I go. I enjoy it and I think it is worth it.

14 quid for a cinema ticket in Galway? That would have to be for the Luxury Theatre in the Eye Cinema. Otherwise tickets would be about 9 quid.

gotta love £3 pound tuesdays in Belfast, although the prices have climbed significantly in recent times down in dublin with my local costing E10.30 now

pisses me off that more Irish cinemas don't do that, they'd make a killing, all the cinmeas in NZ an australia have 5 dollar tuesdays and the places used to be wedged. It turns a dead week night into a gold mine, but nobody here can stand the thought of letting in people for less money.
