Guitar Tunes itself - Peavey AT-200

Couldn't find anything about this up yet so thought id share. I think it looks awesome. I was talking to a guy in Xmusic said hed be getting them in probably in the next 6months - a year and will be around the 600 euro mark.
Thoughts?

If its the Auto tuning you're after there are better guitars out there doing it The Gibson Les Paul Robot being one

Im not after anything I just thought it was cool and hadnt seen anything like it before. Yes but I doubt you could get one for 500-600 euro. I think it would be great for a second guitar just easy for switching tunings in the middle of a gig or something

As far as I know, this doesn´t physically tune the guitar - it uses some kind of built in software to emulate the sound of an in tune guitar. Although, I might have made this up - not bothered checking.

Yeah, that's what the guy in the video said too... unless you're *both* making it up!

The speed of shifting from standard tuning to drop D to open G was fantastic, but as a mainly low-volume bedroom player I can't help put feel the discordant mess that's really coming out of the guitar would be distracting...

If it's modeling an in-tune guitar, wouldn't it have to then know the difference between an open and fretted string? is it reading pressure on the fretboard or tracking relative pitch from the start point on each string?

Does it get battery power or work off phantom power? IF battery, what happens when the power starts to go and you get that Milli Vanilli / Mordecai and the Rigbys moment? I didn't see an LED to indicate the system was live.

Hmmmm... all in all, I'm not convinced - still holding out for a guitar that will play itself while I just pose.

Does the Robot work the same way or does it physically tension/loosen the strings?

I don't know a huge amount about it from what I understand there's a chip that takes in the sound and changes it to the note it should be so it doesn't physically do anything to the strings.
Eh its battery powered and there is an Led to let you know when its low (it says about 30 mins before it runs out). But if battery does run out you can just tune it manually (oh the horror) and play it normally. Battery apparently works 8-9 hours.

I'm with you on the auto play and I just pose!

I think this one has electronics made by the same people and using the same technique as the auto tune vocal system they were using on x-factor to clean up the vocals (although I still go with changing channels to clean it up altogether!)

The Gibson has small motors in the tuners which actually change the tension on the strings.
