Correctimundo Steve SI! The timeless classic like Elite but with a great plot from 1989. Make pirates like you by shooting imperial missiles heading toward their crafts right out of space. Travel across the galaxy to discover just why the manchi hate you so much. Play without the manual so that saved games are not an option and dying means starting again.

You can even play an arcade game inside the game. Like Inception but much better:

Congratulations you win a 50% off assassins creed revelations voucher since nobody else seems to want it. PM steam details to receive your prize.

Thanks very much but I'll give the vouchers a miss.
I'll post up a pic later on as I can't do one at the moment.

none of those are even close

Ah dang! I really thought I had a chance with that Erectile Disfunction guess.

    If greater than
    means down
then you're thinking the right way
    but not like
    first there is nothing.

    > is the symbol for a staircase leading down in roguelike games.
    nothing = space

Here's one that's much older and more obscure. An Amstrad CPC/ZX Spectrum classic:

    198177.png

Similar style of game in some ways, but with a strategy-bent instead of role-playing and plot.

Correct answerer can still win a 50% off Assassin's Creed Revelations voucher because still nobody wants it

    Bingo!
You win an Assassin's Creed Revelations voucher!

The last bit is supposed to be a door crossed out in case people were thinking "doormat", or that the door was relevant.

Released shortly before elite and with a graphics engine apparently written with only 200b of code, Codename MAT places you in command of Mission: Alien Terminator. You and your fleets face an alien horde systematically destroying every planet in the solar system. Seek out and destroy squadron after squadron of cool star-wars-fighter-like alien invaders (and one that looks like a ball of wool). Fail miserably to control where you end up after a warp jump. Wipe out the entire alien force - before they destroy you or reach the Earth.

The cover had abslutely no relation to the gameplay. However the light sabre style weapon and the sinister Emperor-like figure help contribute to the feeling of being in star wars:

None of those words are in the game title.

It's a very well known game if that helps...

Also that's meant to be a human but I'm rubbish at drawing!

Not an Indiana Jones game is it?

Nope, nothing down the alpha track.

What if the A doesn't stand for anything?...

Then it's merely a picture of a man, and a bad clue at that! :p
