Any tips for how to remove pen/ink from car exterior?

    Hey all,

    Was wondering if anyone has a quick fix for this? I've heard rubbing alcohol works, but haven't any, and I'm up late so I'd like to try deal with this now.

    Pretty much, seems a young child (i'd asume) seen a clean white panel to drawn on, and scribbled his illegible name on the exterior/paint.

    Had this problem once before on a van when a local scumbag scribbled on it with marker, but that was easily enough fixed with some rubbing of Lynx and vodka with a sponge for a while (Lynx and vodka because I had seen them recommended through a google search at the time - i can't find the link again, though).


    Want to try and get rid of this and went at it with the lynx/vodka approach to little success, so just looking for any other alternatives that anyone may be aware of?

    Some IPA, Meths or white spirit, maybe even petrol.

    Was a bit restless last night so went at it with the vodka/lynx suggestion. That and a lot of tough rubbing seems to have done the job for the most part. Some of it's still visible, though.


    I've heard petrol recommended so may try that (I know a guy that used to work doing Eircom's vans (that is stripping them down and re-doing their decals, etc.) and he reckons petrol is a move in the right direction for it (he used to use it to get rid of marks and dirt and such after the decals were taken off).

    Worth a shot. If it doesn't work out, I'll come back to some of the above suggestions.

    This if you've got noting else ^^ I dont like using petrol or white spirits on a light fabric because can leave its own light but yellowish stain. There is a product you can get in any motor factors called "tar and glue" pour some into a spray bottle and spray directly onto the ink, leave for 2 mins, spray a little more then gently(and i mean gently) rub with a soft nail brush. All that said, you will need a hoover to suck the ink out for best results.

    oops my bad, panels, id still use tar and glue but wipe off with a soft sponge.
