Just to clarify, it was parents mortgage, long and complicated story. Can't pay the mortgage myself because I am a student, we tried negotiating with the bank, to lower the payments some so we could manage them they refused.

That doesn't sound right considering a lad in work was three months behind and the bank told him cause he kept requesting for negotiation on repayments and rang explaining every time he was behind, they couldn't repossess due to a legislation passed in 2009.

The bank in question has been kept up to date with every twist and turn throughout the story. It was originally nationwide, but now the IRCB?

Sh1tty news without a shadow of a doubt..

Maybe a little too late but have you tried the ombudsman?

Could you rent rooms to your student pals to raise a few quid?

    Hope you get something sorted

You must have some friends who can put you up for a while? If you do i suggest you move in with them and then try to find a job or apply for a grant. You should definitely qualify for a grant.

Talk to your college ASAP, they should be able to help you in some way.

Take a **** in every room before you move out.

OR take a **** in an envelope and send it to the bank?

Your parents should get to the community welfare officer and the local council to see if they can accommodate with temporary accommodation.
Also, get an appointment MABS. I know it may be too late to save your home but they will do a budget plan for all your income and expenses if things are tough which obviously they must be. They may be able to help you renegotiate with other creditors.
    Best of luck.

    This might the legislation.

OP - Read through the conduct protection code and code of conduct on mortgage arrears and if you feel that the bank haven't followed the conduct, report the matter to the Financial Ombudsman.

Have a look around youtube. there is a video posted by a group who will legally face down the sheriff when he comes to evict you. Its unconstitutional to evict any one from their home. Sorry i cant be of more help. Good luck. It must be rough

He wasn't evicted because it was two Gardai and a Sheriff versus over thirty angry protesters. They came back two weeks later and turfed him out when he was on his own.

Most of my college assignments are due this week, i also have an exam tomorrow,I just don't know how I am going to go in and pretend that everything is fine when it so far from is. Or focus in any, way, shape or form.

The hardest part for me is that I am gong to have to rehome my pets, because I can't provide a home for them anymore.

We didn't bury our heads in the sand, we tried to sort things out everyday we could, just met closed doors at every turn.

You should really talk to MAB's. If you were willing to renegotiate, its extreme circumstances and this is your only home at the moment this will reflect really badly on the bank in court. If you can get MAB's involved its likely the bank will call off the hounds.

Bet some of the other posters feel like dicks now.

Have you looked into a hardship grant in college, OP? Most colleges AFAIK have one for students facing exceptional circumstances and I'd say you more than qualify.

This, go to your Students Union and ask about some sort of emergency assistance fund. I know you might feel embarrassed but that is what it's there for, it's worth a try. Most colleges have some sort of money set aside to help student who find themselves in awful situations like yours.

Hope everything works out for you.

do you work part time as a student? If not then why not, if so does this not provide enough? Pets are a luxury item and ferociously expensive, why have you got them if you can't even pay the mortgage?
story simply does not add up for me...

Also, OP, get in and tell someone in your college outside the SU what is going on. Get them to make an official record of it so if, knock on wood, you fail anything because of the stress or need an extension, there's a record of it and you can apply for a compensation to pass or the chance to resit when things calm down.

There's usually a process for such things in colleges so make sure it goes down an official route. If there is a welfare officer in your student union, they should be able to help.

Get a job. The golden days are gone. Being a student is longer a thing where people just pick a course and don't work for 3-5years and fiddle with their pets.

Why not start by cancelling your ISP account..... Tis a luxury after all, lest ye have forgotten.

Are you serious? Did some posters here miss that whole recession lark that's been in the news?

So what did happen, if it wasn't your mortgage was the problem?

A good rain jacket, that's what I suggest you take with you.

Is there any need for a horrible comment like that, considering what the OP is going through?

yeah, of course they are. you don't get one unless you know you can afford to look after it, feed it, pay vet bills etc. Pets take a lot of time and money to look after correctly, otherwise you are just being massivly irresponsible to both yourself and the animal...

I'm sceptical that this thread is genuine, but on the off chance that it is...

First of all, chat to your tutor in college. Exams are hard enough as it is so with this too you would have mitigating circumstances should they not go your way.

Secondly I find it hard to believe that a bank would repossess a house with a mortgage for less than 100k thats in arrears by less than 12k. This is surely a case for the financial ombudsman, the bank can't repossess the home as long as the parties are making an effort to repay afaik.

Its a bad time now, but there will be better days ahead...:)

besides, why not pick on any of the other posters that said things in jest?

It just doesn't seem very sensitive, considering he's about to be kicked out of his house. "oh get a rain coat, cos you'll need it with the rain outside...cos you've no house hehahahehaha".

But yeah sorry, I don't mean to be picking on you - yours was the first comment I saw when I clicked on the thread.

What a completely presumptuous post. How do you know they didn't get the pet when they could afford it? If it's a family pet they've had for a while, they might have found it difficult to get rid of it but as the OP says now, they have to because they can't afford it.

Also you'd be hard pressed to find a part-time student job that pays enough to pay off mortgage repayments and support the student. Aswell as that, not all courses leave students with enough time to work part-time. If the OP is in science, they can have a lot of hours.

He's about to lose his home and you've "no sympathy"? What an absolutely horrible thing to say. You should be ashamed of yourself.
