Have a read of this, it may or may not be a problem just be aware of it when looking over the car. For mpg I get mid to high 20s around town and around 35-36 on the motorway.

I would believe that the mileage is far higher than stated due to the representative condition of the interior in the pictures.

Thanks. I am going to get a mechanic to check it out. Should he pick this up?

I am going to get the AA car history check done so if this is different then will walk away.

I dont quite follow, sorry. This post is about looking for a new engine.

Emmissions are only an NCT issue?

Will be getting it checked by a mechanic before hand.

Your mechanic should pick it up, but you can always ask him to specifically check for this. No harm in being safe.

Carpet and steering wheel looks over 100 tbh... And these are known high milers so im basing me skeptism on that.

Always go in a skeptic come out happy, thats my motto.

OP, these petrol mondeos have a strong reputation in burning oil.....they are a much better proposition in diesel.

That one looks tired, and over priced.

Will the AA car check not confirm the true mileage?

I dont do enough miles to warrant a diesel.

Is one of the cheapest ones I have seen.

They cant be 100% as they will get data off sources such as NCT and also they use data that previous users have entered when doing a vehicle check.

So while they will show you what mileage their database has on the car always bear in mind that it comes from 3rd party sources, its a valuable tool but needs to be taken as a holistic view when viewing any vehicle.

Take the vehicle on condition and merit. But always get background checks down too as you need a build of information when parting with your cash. (rule number 1)

    Good advice.

If there any other checks you can do apart from Cartell?

You could check the service history, but i'll be surprised if that car has one. I think i'm with MidlandM - looks rough and expensive to me too.

    It doesn't!

What kind of price is reasonable for a '02/'03 Mondeo in decent condition with under 100K miles?
