lacquer peal

    suffering from lacquer peal on my back bumper. is a respray my only option? roughly what costs should i be looking at?

    That area will have to be sanded down to get rid of the edges and will have be resprayed with only lacquer if you're lucky.

    Owen is the best person to ask ;)

    I would chance it with a Sand down and a Rattle can of lacquer. Finish it with a wet sand and DA,

    Unfortunately, even if you sand the edges down, you'll be left with a visible edge of the old lacquer. Putting new lacquer down won't hide that, it'll magnify it. You need to sand the old lacquer smooth, prime it to seal it, apply base coat (Colour) and then lacquer on top at the end.

    It's a large area and it's both sides of the bumper. Don't think I'd chance it myself. I'd like a really good finish other than that I'd chance it myself!

    Price for most places would vary for a full bumper respray, anything from 200-400.
