Replace tiagra 9 speed chainset with 10 speed?

My tiagra 4500 chain rings are looking a bit shark toothed and need replacing soon. My dilemma is that the only stock around seems to be stronglight rings and ignoring the cheapie dural ones then 2 rings cost the same as a new chainset. Unfortunately it is the new tiagra 10 speed whereas the rest of my drivetrain is 9…

Does anyone know if the 10 speed chainset will work ok still with a 9 speed chain? Please

I would have said 10sp chainrings should cope.
