Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Rose here from University of Limerick Sub Aqua club who are running an Emergency First Response 1st Aid Course the next three Saturdays of this month ( Sat. 3rd, 10th and 17th - each course covered over one day). It's a fundraiser for ULSAC and we are offering the course at a 1/3 of the normal price. Our equipment officer is an EFR instructor and offered his services for the club. EFR is the course used by PADI for rescue diver courses but is relevant to all first aid needs.

Dan, the instructor, is hosting the course in his home and it's a hands on learning experience with no previous experience required. The course covers primary and secondary care, care of children and the AED (defib machines you see around public places). http://www.emergencyfirstresponse.com/

The course is normally run for around €150 but we are doing it for €50 with certification and if anyone wishes they can do it for €30 without the cert. There is a max class number of 12 but no minimum as Dan is happy to train anyone that is interested.

If you have any further questions please feel free to contact me at rose.barrett@ul.ie, ulsac.pro@gmail.com or on 086 2468283

Any other (reckon I might get banned if i subbed the word 'good' for 'other' :p ) music happening in the City this weekend. Like trad and blue grass kinda stuff. Are Hermitage Green still playing?

Yup, +1. I got there at 7:00 last week and within 15 minutes the place was full, even though the band weren't playing until after 8:00. Worth it though. :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,015 ✭✭✭✭Mc Love

I arrived late one evening and it wasnt even worth it as the band were playing down the front and there was no breathing space at all in there, so left and went up to JJ Bowles for a pint instead!

I hear ya! ;) Six months ago people were complaining about the lack of metal in the city, so your comment is definitely a positive one, as far as I'm concerned, haha! :p

There's a lot of different music around the city, I'm going to try and keep this thread updated with all the music events, of all genres.
@Insect Overlord, if I PM you some links to venues and promotors, can these be added to the first post? Cheers. :)

Yeah, fire away. I'll just have a look through them to make sure they're all relevant to Limerick first.

Limerick FC are playing the Liverpool youth team tonight at Jackman Park. Tickets can be got at the Limerick FC store in Arthurs Quay.

Nice chance for Liverpool FC supporters to get to see some of the promising players in the 16-19 yo bracket and a trip to Jackman Park might convince a few folk to start doing so more often.

Not in Limerick, but the two White Tailed sea eagles on Lough Derg are worth the trip to try and spot. Majestic birds who are the first pair to nest in the area for 100 years.

Would strike me as being ideal subjects for shutter bugs and nature buffs alike as they can be seen quite easily from Mountshannon when they on their little island and also from the Tipp side of the lake when they are in flight.

With wingspans of around 6.5 to 7.5 feet they are hard to miss

Thanks for this Sioda must drop in.

    - Its also really nice to see former Church buildings finally turned into something positive, giving instead of taking from and domineering over the community.

Went to see Pigtown last night finally and it was excellent, I think it is on for another week at the Belltable, would recommend it, it goes in a different way than you expect from the initial but all in all a nice evening.
