The other day I was driving down the road in my 05 Opel Corsa when the car started stuttering. I pulled over to hear noise and then car cut out and could not be restarted. Had car towed to garage and they have diagnosed it with a broken camshaft. Cost to repair between €1500 and €2000 . The car has never been driven hard and has done less than 30,000 Kms. The garage says they have never come across this before especially on a car which has done so little mileage.

However I have done a little goggling and have come across many other 05 Corsa owners in the UK who have had exactly the same problem. (just goggle “honestjohn corsa snapped camshaft”). I have also come across another article in the Scottish Sunday mail news paper with 12 cases in Scotland from last Sunday’s newspaper http://tiny.cc/ks2l0

I am just wondering are there any other cases in Ireland with Corsa having a broken camshaft. Should I take this up with Opel Ireland. They will probable fob me off as I have not has the car serviced with an Opel dealer. Any advice on where I should go with this

    Hi,

Same story here with an Opel Corsa, 2005, 35k. Did you have any luck with Opel? How did you go about it?

    Thanks.

Is it not under warranty with such low mileage?

Going to leave this open as the OP still uses boards and it would be worth while seeing how they got on.
