Audible.co.uk device compatibility

I recently purchased a new Sandisk Sansa Clip Zip MP3player and today I discovered that Audible.co.uk has certain restrictions that mean that certain MP3 players are not compatible with it's service (e.g. Sony players). The Sansa clip and clip + are listed here but not the clip zip...

Is this an oversight? Has anyone else with one of these players used Audible?

it's probably just a case of sandisk not paying up to be Audible "compatible" (with the zip), but since the clip/clip+/zip are all essentially the same device it should work just fine with the zip. Here's hoping anyway :D

The good news is that Audible can be played on the clipzip...

The bad news is that they CAN'T be transferred using a Mac. FFS!

Thankfully I don't have an Audible account yet but I did download The Count of Monte Cristo from iTunes and that is apparently an Audible file according to the book introduction when I play it, so no wonder it won't work on my Clipzip.

    ARGH!!!!

Anyone know if I can convert this file?

Don't think it can be converted with DRM on it.
You've just discovered first hand why DRM is evil!

I've always hated DRM, never bought a song from iTunes until DRM was removed. I won't be joining Audible so and will just have to listen to my Cont of Monte Cristo on the iPad instead.
