there is very few real chinese restaurants/takeaways in ireland. the vast majority are run by malaysians

I'm generally a fan of Indian food over Chinese, but......

The best, friendliest, goddam tastiest Chinese/Asian restaurant in Ireland has to be Victoria gardens in Johnstown/Naas in my humble opinion.
Really authentic grub, and with dishes as diverse as frogs legs, salt and chilli quail, jumbo unshelled prawns, there its something for everyone on that menu!

Anyone whose ever had the pleasure of dining here will testify to this fact!

way nicer than chipper chips when you involve a sauce , but with salt & vinegar or plane , chipper wins every time.

curry chips from a chinese are far superior to the chipper

Not really anymore, I don't feel as Irish now I think I've gone off all chips.. how will I survive without chips now what will provide me with sustenance naow!

Buy a decent Chinese cookbook and try cooking some authentic dishes yourself. Bleedin' delish man.
Tried that before. Couldn't understand a word of it though. ;)

rubbish frozen crap. nothing like proper chipper chips. and in the Chinese they always ask if you want sore finger , its salt and v...!

Egg Fried Rice and Chicken Curry.

Bleugh even worse, I'm sick of heavy stodgy food. I must not have any decent chinese take aways around my area because in my experience...

Real fresh chips = mm I can dig "dat"
Chinese chips = dry slimey shriveled bits of chips

Erin quick curry sauce = hmmm nice, alright.
Chinese curry sauce = watery grease

Proper Thai green curry = mmm look coconut milk
Chinese takeaway TGC = green greasy watery shi/te just like the morning after.

Alls I'm saying is I've gone off chips, Chinese food all that because its not great but maybe I need to find a good Chinese, or maybe I've gone off it full stop.

I've heard from quite a few people that chips from a Chinese takeaway are "mank" (I think that's bad - judging from the expressions on their faces when they say it. "Massive" seems to mean "fantastic" instead of "of a very large size"). This seems to be a commonly held opinion. I've sampled them myself and agree they are not the best, but surely some people like them. Maybe even prefer them? What do you AH'ers think?

My local Chink buys their chips in Dunnes by the box load. A 1.5kg bag is around €1.50 so its no wonder the portions are "massive". That said they are sh1te. As are the bag of prawn crackers they give you free if you spend over a thousand yo yo's on food.

I am one of those freaks who gets Chinese chips with their order am i love them. Rice doesnt agree with me and not a fan of noodles so not really left with much option when ordering.

    A great bunch of chips.

the problem with chinese food in ireland is that most of it is just frozen stuff reheated in a microwave when ordered.

Real chinese food (the stuff they themselves eat) is much nicer than the crap they sell to us.

this is why i prefer indian food and most of that is actually cooked fresh as indian food doesnt reheat well.

Chinese chips are hit and miss. Some place have them crispy while others have them soggy and whats the snobbery about ordering chips from a Chinese takeaway? I normally get chips and boiled rice with whatever i get or half and half is ideal. The worst of all is Indian chips - just avoid.

Irish chippers are a dying breed now and its mainly Italians that have them. What happened to them all?

most of the irish chippers can't compete with the likes of mcdonalds, burger crap, and roma chippers..

that said leo burdocks in phibsborough does do nice chips.... REAL potato chips not that reconstituted crap.

Never get chips from a Chinese. If I order a beef curry, schezuan, crispy duck or a hot garlic sauce dish it's always accompanied with soft fried noodles.

Egg fried rice with black bean sauce dish.

I never ever go out to Chinese restaurants. It's take out food IMO. Thai is far far superior and I absolutely love going out to Thai restaurants. Love Indian also though not as good as Thai.

Some people gert both egg fried rice and chips. Not all of these people are fat.

I don't order chinese very often, but when I do, I order a chicken fried rice AND chips. I then pile them high on a plate, and shovel them in to my mouth.

    Judge me if you will.

For some strange reason it's almost like they don't want us to have the authentic stuff. Like if you go to M&L Chinese restaurant they have an authentic Chinese menu aswell as a generic one, and the food is goddamsn delicious, always loads of Chinese people in there. But you almost have to beg them to let you have it. It's as if they'd rather just have Chinese people dining there and no-one else.

There are now a few very decent Chinese restaurants in Dublin. Good World which has been around a while, but also M&L (off O'Connell St) and Hilan on Capel St, are serving Chinese food that's far superior to anything you'll get from a takeaway, and not much more expensive.

Is that an Irish thing, where you can get chips in a Chinese

Where I live no Chinese restaurant serves chips and if I ever did come across a Chinese restaurant serving chips I would give it a miss.
