    Any good?

I just saw the highlights (30mins) and he looked ok in that, held up a Leeds player over the line to prevent a try, another camera angle may have show the ball was grounded.

I was talking to a guy who rates him as a proper 7 so maybe we're onto something.

From what I saw he looks like he could be a decent signing. Has good size, and seems to be traditional type 7, which is something we lack in Munster. Hopefully he'll work out for us....

Interesting, at least we're bringing in some Irish qualified guys. We're still going to have a massive squad though.

We started out with 46 this year and by my reckoning we'll have about 48 next season, that's assuming the likes of Dineen, Gleeson, Henry have contracts or will sign new contracts.

Also saw on twitterland that Borlase is due back immediately from Connacht, don't know if that's due to as injury cover for Munster or Connacht not happy with him.

Does the acquisition of Dougal mean the end for TOD or Ronan?

Ronan definitely signed a 2 year deal, can't remember if TOD did or not.

    Both signed up recently.

So Munster have Wallace, Ronan, TOD and Dougal as opensides next season... Hard to see POM playing there.

That is a huge squad though. I don't blame guy for taking contracts, but you'd have to think Dineen's or Gleeson's careers really haven't progressed in the last 12 months. I know injuries have played a part, but can either honestly say they are reaching their potential with Munster?

Wally has probably another season in him so I doubt they'd cast aside Ronan and it depends on how much O'Donnel improves but he's here til the end of 2013 season anyway.

Are you saying you'd drop POM for TOD or Ronan or Dougall or Wally for that matter?

If he's thinking what I'm thinking, I presume he means POM won't be playing 7 with 3 7's in the squad, especially considering his versatility.

    Which is a shame really.

Munster have used 46 players in the Pro12 this season, I know some only got snips of games but that includes John Hayes, Chambers and Tokula who wont be around next season and hopefullly, we wont need to be bringing in temporary cover like we did with Chambers.

Gleeson's best game this season was with the BaBas in London.

During the 6Ns everyone kept saying he wasn't a 7, now that Munster have a choice, people want him playing there.

I'd assume that whoever is the new coach will give them all a run and see who fits in best for the bigger games.

Since the Northampton game I've been happy to see him at 7 to see how he gets on. He could be a good 7 but obviously if he doesn't play there for Munster it will be hard to know. He might play, but you have to think they wouldn't have kept so many 7's if that was the plan.

As would I, but despite some people's misgivings about Ronan, he's had a great season for Munster up to his injury, Wally has been Munster's if not Ireland's best 7 since the early noughties, Dougall is supposed to be an out and out 7 so interesting times ahead.

And I think TOD is very good too.

It's nice to have options and we've had a lot of bad injuries but it's still a massive squad to have.

Bizarrely it seems Borlase is coming back to Munster. However don't RD Pro12 rules state that you can only play for one team per season, that would mean that Borlase is ineligible for the rest of the Pro12 campaign.

Plus he's hardly going to get into a HEC23, unless Archer is injured.

Has Borlase played for Connacht at all?

Besides, he played for Munster already this season in the Rabo so under that rule he would have been ineligible for Connacht.

(He is the one who went to Connacht right? I'm not making an idiot of myself and confusing him).

He hasn't played in the rabo for munster this season

Maybe he has been recalled for B&I cup duty

He hasn't played at all this season for Munster and he made one appearance for Connacht in the Rabo, away to Scarlets.

He played for us v Scarlets which would make him ineligible for Munster in the Pro 12

I'm not sure if Munster wanted him back, Rodney Ah You is back from injury so maybe it was decided that he was surplus with us

Ah, I looked at his profile and didn't bother checking the seasons - just saw he had Rabo gametime. And Connacht haven't updated their website with the Connacht game yet.

So that's a massive fail all round for me there.

Is that a new rule? I remember players being swapped between teams before.

Pretty sure I do too. I know it's a rule for the HEC but I'm not so sure on the Rabo.

Yeah, I know I should probably just look it up but I don't see why it'd be changed.

Interesting that Sheridan got a contract, we're hardly going to have 5 scrumhalves on contract with us, who's leaving? Stringer or TOL?

You know I missed that one, my thoughts is that TOL is in contract negotiations and Stringer is being strung along. If TOL leaves Stringer will be made an offer but if TOL stays Stringer would be let go.

Tbh, I think Stringer is as much a problem as a solution now. It's four years since he lost his place, his time has come and gone. TOL just doesn't have the pass to be a top level scrumhalf, neither are the kind of player we should be moving mountains to keep.
