Just seen that the BBC have lost all rights to horse racing to Channel 4 from 2013 for 4 yrs.

Great news as a horse racing fan and horrible news if your a fashion expert

The BBC were terrible i thought and the fact that Channel 4 are taking over some of the biggest race days is brilliant. The Arc, Royal Ascot,Grand National,Derby meetings and a couple of other meetings will now go to C4 :D

At least with C4 you know your gonna get decent coverage with decent presenters, commentary and its all about the horse racing and not some of the useless stuff the BBC used to show especially the fashion parts!

The coverage in the build up to the derby last year nearly drove me mad, you wouldn't have known there were other horses in the race apart from Carlton House.

The Beeb is preferable to 4 mins of ads every 12-15mins imho.

This is great news for viewers and for racing.

Agree with most of the comments. BBC coverage is simply diabolical. Gary Wiltshire & John Parrott at Aintree have me watching it on mute (more aimed at GW I suppose).

I'd rather look at 4mins of ads than having to listen at John Parrott trying to be funny and then having to listen to Willie Carson talk a load of sh!te in that same amount of time! Their coverage was appalling at times

BBC was pure ****e, great news, can't believe C4 are after Balding. I hope that doesn't meant Tanya would get shuffled back further, can't fathom C4's treatment of her. I would much rather hear her opinion in the studio than Nick Luck or Alastair Down.

Are you joking? Lord Snooty and Fat Al are racing giants

Nick Luck is excellent, hes not in the same bracket as Alastair Down at all.

I am not saying I don't rate either, Nick Luck is better than Alastair but I just rate Tanya above both of them.

Anyone know if something happened? All of a sudden Tanya is sent outside with her palm pilot.

Thanks be to god. No more sh*te talking from Balding and her racing aristocracy buddies.

Like most, was really pissed off with their coverage of the Derby. Must've been told at least 200 times that the Queen was the owner of Carlton House and how 'the whole country is behind the horse'. Get fúcked BBC. Delighted for Channel 4, their coverage is always excellent although they could probably give bigger races a bigger build up rather than treating a race at Caterick the same as the World Hurdle! :pac:

No harm. But are there problems at Attheraces they lost three courses in Scotland Matt Chapman now commentates on the all-weather from the studio[are they about to lose them aswell].They are trying to pay less for Irish meetings.Gary O Brien will cover less tracks for the comming flat season.

Delighted with this news, your man Simon Holt is an amazing commentator, in a tight finish he makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up, John Francombe is great as well so delighted that C4 have the likes of Royal Ascot and The Derby & Oaks etc :D

Isn't Matt Chapman joining Racing UK soon?

I'm afraid so, Chapman is like marmite to some people but I love the man, big big loss for ATR. Not sure when it is he is going but he made reference to himself leaving on "get on" one of the days last week.
