Name change on Aer Lingus ticket

I have booked a return ticket to New York due to depart in two weeks, but it now looks like I'll have difficulty getting the time of work. Does anyone know if the "name change" facility would allow me to transfer the ticket into someone else's name (I'm hoping my sister might be able to go in my place), or is it meant more for people who have mispelt names or want to use married names etc.?

According to the Aer Lingus website, you can change it if you are willing to pay the fee. It will cost you up to 100-157 euros for each leg of the journey that you are changing a name on. For a return flight that would be 200-314 euros. You must contact Aer Lingus directly to do it. You can not do it online.

She will need take care of her own ESTA visa waiver stuff. You can't transfer yours over to her.

That's great, thanks. Looks like it's doable then. The extra cost is annoying but better than effectively throwing the ticket in the bin!

I changed a name last year on a return flight to Chicago. It cost 100 euro overall.
    Hope that helps
