opel astra oil leaking problem

Hiya lads i have a problem with a 02 1.4 opel astra, oil seems to be spilling onto the engine block, checked under the silver cover and the little rubber u shaped seals seem to be frayed could this be where the oil is leaking or could it be the oil cap loose. any help would be great
