I think there is a good chance that we spread through the galaxy in the very long run. We have the science of self contained ecologies to apply to megaships. They'd be all like Wooooooooooosh! Poooooow! There own self contained worlds ferrying generation after generation though the gulf to other potentially habitable planets. Or even give up on the planets. Harvest resources and live in man made habitats. We could move about, become somewhat nomadic. I imagine humanity in space like seeds in the wind. We'll end up everywhere.

So I reckon we'll eventually fade out, due to a slowing, then we'll find it almost impossible to repopulate human presence on earth.
