Acer netbook - Mouse mayhem

18 month old Acer Aspire One - been running Ubuntu netbook edition 10.04 since I bought it, no issues until recently.

The mouse seems to lose part of its function. This occurs with both the touchpad and a wireless mouse.

I can move the pointer around without issue, yet for some reason it won't click on menu items or buttons properly. It does click on some things, but mostly it just ignores clicking.

In Ubuntu it would happily click the icons to open programs, but once they were open - no response. I can navigate around using TAB, and space to click buttons.

I did a fresh install of Ubuntu 11.04 and Fudbuntu - both of these have the EXACT same issue. I tried to install Arch Linux but couldn't get it going.

Can't find anything on Google which is similar.. Help or guidance appreciated!!

    Anyone?

Also been looking for a specific forum (outside boards) for hardware issues, as with my collection of pcs I'm often enough trying to sort issues. Any suggestions there?
