Backspacer wasn't as good as Pearl Jam's previous self titled album, it had it's moments just not as consistent. I'm a big fan of them but I'd struggle to listen to that album in a single sitting.
Alter Bridge, I've never listened to fully but from a brief listening, sound like all other modern US rock. I'd have Limp Bizkit over them.
Only by the night was released in 2008, so it's not as easy as you thought. That's without mentioning them being some of the most hated self indulgent artists around.

Completely agree with Arcade Fire's and Bon Iver's last releases being class, I'd have those with the national and fleet foxes in my recent list. After that I'm struggling to find other albums as good as those. And it's not for lack of trying. I'd read up the yearly best ofs from popbitch, allmusic, etc. and boards' music sections, pour through youtube on the strength of the recommendations but there are precious few of that high quality that demand you to hit repeat the minute the album was over.

The point I failed to make (and Krudler alluded to) was that it's far less time consuming (and much more satisfying) to listen to unfamiliar "older" music or branch out into sampling completely different genres than to try and wade through all the modern releases; many of which are unworthy of the time and effort.

It doesn't matter what pearl jam album you think is better or what albums you can't listen to fully, you asked me to name 5 that i could. Alter bridge are one of my favorite bands, if you don't like them that much.. fine, thats ok. i've said i don't like pink floyd that much but i know for a fact millions of people do.

It was easy to think of 5... Band for horses - Inifite Arms, Muse - The Resistance, Radiohead - The King of Limbs, Slash - "Slash"(I enjoyed it more than any GR album, as a whole that is), Black Keys - El camino, Disturbed - Asylum(Sue me) and more are all albums that i have listened to practically on repeat for a couple of weeks or so.. in the last few years. Some of them aren't the bands best album, but how many bands/artists do you know of in any decade that consistantly improved upon their last album.

Anyway lets just drop this discussion, i've said it quite a few times now, but you like what you like.. if you're really not into anything being released these days, thats fine.. there is, like you said, a huge amount of older music to listen to... personally i couldn't think of a better time to love music.. got all my old favorites and still have plenty of bands and artists releasing great (IMO) music every year. Also some people need to understand what opinions are and stop stating them like they're fact !

On that note.. Backspacer IS pearljams best album since vitalogy. :P

I have Alterbridge's "Blackbird" and "One day remains" on my Ipod and they're two of my favourite albums. Also was going to take Magill to task over his earlier Guns n Roses / Nirvana comment and then realised that after Appetite for Destruction / Nevermind the rest of their stuff is pretty meh!

Anyway Hendrix is where it's at :D

There's a song I've been trying to find for a long time now, it's been years since I've heard and the worse thing is I've so little to go on to find the song

    Girl and counter

Man I wish I could remember more

    http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-03-01-official-assassins-creed-3-box-art-confirms-american-revolution-setting

Ubisoft will have to change a lot of things from the past games so it will be interesting to see what they do.

Bought a PS3 controller on Adverts.ie there few months ago and never really used it (aint been on PS3 as much).

Used it to flick around the menus and seemed to work fine.. When I used it to actually play a game everything works fine but the controller is incredibly laggy.

Turns out its counterfeit but my god they did a good job with it!
Identical in every way! Really looks the business and packaged perfectly! I acutally couldnt be angry at how I got shafted (€25) coz it looked so perfect...

but I shoulda known better anyway!

Saying to the lads last night, looks interesting alright. I really need to buy the 2nd one over summer first. Still can't believe I haven't played any of them since the first one which while repetitive.. I enjoyed for the most part.

Someone would say the same of CoD *runs away* jk.

I getcha. I kind of just liked the setting of it all. It was quite something else when you first made you're way into each city clambering to the top of the highest building and having a gander around. Story was somewhat interesting too.

I liked the graphics, the surroundings, the story! I actually liked alot about the game but feck me.. all that climbing and jumping as getting waaaaay to excessive!!

Plus I really hated the whole fighting animation..
6 enemies surround you in a fight.. but only one will ever attack at once... maybe 2 and super rarely 3 might have a go at once!

Anyways I'm not here to hate on it... just wish the repetition didn't throw me off it so much!
