    It also says that what she was doing was only discovered on the 13th of February and the case happened 11 days after. The court system works fast in Zimbabwe!

    In fact so must the lab technicians because it seems very fast for it to be established that her blood was in the porridge, that it was menstrual blood as opposed to regular blood and that it was HIV+. When was this confirmed?

    I don't know much about CSI Masvingo but 11 days from finding your child eating something suspicious to a conviction of the maid for putting her own, particular type of blood, infected with a particular disease sounds rather fantastical.

    Oh right so we are all believing this story then are we ? I kinda skeptical I must say.

    Why don't you read your own link ? I does not say humans got HIV by ingesting the chimps - it says humans caught HIV by butchering the chimps - in other words blood born spread - the humans had to have an open cut somewhere. Probably failry likely if you are out hunting and butchering chimps that you are going to pick up a graze or two. Hell I cut myself making dinner today and it was already killed an butchered

    That is absolutely disgusting. Can you imagine how the child's parents must feel? They'll have to get blood tests done to ensure she hasn't contracted HIV by ingesting the blood. Horrific!

    Has the maid said why she did it? I can't imagine the thought process.

    Clearly there's something wrong with me - I'm not half as disgusted by this as the rest of you.

    To be clear, I don't find the idea palatable or anything, but ingesting a bit of someone else's blood (regardless of where it came from) is probably not the most appalling thing that could happen to a person. And I don't know how likely it is the kid (open mouth sores not withstanding) could have contracted something.

    Lady is seriously messed up in the head though.

    I'm not sure about that. She mightn't even know much about HIV given it's not that rare. She may have been really really trying to do something nasty, like a waiter pissing in the soup or... Oh I knew this all sounded familiar, irvine welsh has a similar scenario in one of his books, headcandy I think - the waitress has a particularly obnoxious customer, goes into the back and rinses her used tampon in the soup. I'm not saying irivine welsh and the maid aren't sick f&&ks but I doubt these are isolated incidents.

    Well it's possibly attempted murder, if that's indeed what she was doing. And it's a truly horrible act if so. But I don't get the impression that's what appalls most of the posters on this thread though, most of them just seemed to be grossed out by the idea of her menstrual blood.

    Menstrual blood is pretty gross IMO - I don't think there's anything wrong with being of that view, and it seems to me people are just disgusted by the act, and understandably so. Sorry for being so blunt here, but if it were e.g. phlegm, another natural bodily fluid, there wouldn't be an issue with finding that gross. If the guilty party were a man and it was semen, there'd be fury!

    Hopefully inmates will find out about her atrocity in prison and give her one hell of a tough time inside.

    Fortunately for the child the chances of picking up the HIV virus trough ingestion is extremely slim.

    I don't believe this story. Sure there is a court case. But I don't believe the tale went down as its being told
