DVD player to play avi and mkv

I'm looking to buy a dvd player that will play avi and mkv files. A hdmi connection would be a must. The cheaper the better. Any recommendations? Mike

the SCENE is changing to X264 at the moment so i'd advise getting something that'll play that format

I'm also in the marked for a DVD player or Blu-Ray player that can handle .mkv's etc
Anyone got any recommendations ?
