Has anyone had an adult dog docked and roughly how much did it cost you.

my springer spaniel keeps cutting her tail when out hunting and she is absolutely destroyed in blood it gets worse every time she goes out.

I brought her to a new vet in town to see how much it would cost and got quoted €162.50 to have an operation to remove the damaged part of her tail and then she charged me a €35 consultation fee:rolleyes:. Should have brought her to my normal vet.

35quid was a bit harsh just for that..

I had a bitch that cracked her tail when she leaped off a bank while we were hunting cover on an old railway line, her whole back swelled up..

The op was done in a day and including the meds going home it cost me 105..

they could be charging alot if they think the operation isnt absolutely necessary as adult dogs arent supposed to have their tails docked

How did the dog get on afterwards did she have any problems with it? What was the recovery time like?
