Remap Audi A6 2.0 TDI S-Line

Guys,

Im looking into remapping a fully loaded 2006 A6 2.0 TDI Sline. Its a fine machine but am looking to up the power by 25 or 30% at least. I'm wondering what the options are in Ireland, how it affects insurance etc? Is a tuning box the better option? Can I get one to switch between economy and power mode? etc etc. I really havent a clue on tuning (or tuning companies, good or bad) and have done damn all research on it. I plan on learning a good bit over the coming weeks though.
Any thoughts, experiences, options, prices or advice from those in the know would be great

1. It's a requirement of your insurance policy that you inform them you have modified the vehicle beyond standard spec. Failing to do so can void your policy.

2. Yes the switch is the accelerator the way a remap works is based on engine load. The heavier your foot the more power and Diesel you use.
That's how the vehicle can be tuned for both power and economy.

3. I have seen http://www.chippedire.com/ recommended as they use a rolling road for mapping specifically for your vehicle. This is the best approach and probably the most expensive.

There are generic off the shelf chips which is a generic cruder approach and deliver gains but to a lesser degree at a cheaper price.

You will have to ring around for prices as we do not allow direct advertising here.

For learning resources Id recommend the autopseed blog and site for no non-sence info on basic diesel tuning.

Issues may be additional load on clutch but that's vehicle specific and others may advise you better on this.
