Some types of rap yeah, but with artists like Plan B and other contemporary rap artists, they're playing with full live bands now. But if it's more old-school 2pac etc, then yeah.

Trad music. The same 2 or 3 lines of melody repeated ad nauseum. Urgh.

    Lol.....i meant rap voice only.

The other Oasis comment is about Noel Gallagher open chord playing. I like listening to Oasis though.

Nothing wrong with playing rap as long as it's the right kind.

Couldn't be more further from the truth. A lot of trad is the most technical stuff I have played. Don't even get me started on DADGAD.
After that it depends on whether you like it or not. Death metal is technical too, but to my ear, is mainly a bag of sh*te.....:)

I think rap music would be fun to play as a bass player or drummer...not so much as a guitarist. Maybe a keyboard player would fit in there too.
I would love to play bass with a DJ in a club and a drummer. That would be fun....

Do you mean boring for the musician that's playing it? Not a genre, but this piece of 'music' would be boring to 'play' - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4%E2%80%B233%E2%80%B3

I saw a documentary on experimental music a while ago and they played a short version of it. The narrator said "John Cage originally didn't play this on piano, but here it is not played by a full orchestra". I have to admit the orchestra did a very good job of not playing it.

Yeah I enjoy playing along with rap on drums and now with the internet we have access to superb instructional videos such as this: :pac:
