How to study Psychology if you don't get the top 30 in NUIM

    Hi all,

    I'm a student at NUI Maynooth, just got my first semester provisional exam results back and by my calculations am currently in the top 70. That is not including our assignment marks and the external examiners, but they can only bring me up so much.

    Only the top 30 can go on to study Psychology in second year, so I was wondering if I don't get in is there any diplomas I could study either in Ireland or abroad that would give me the qualifications to later do a masters in Psychology?

    I would like to know because I am really interested in Psychology and want to do it even if I don't make the cut.

    Yeah there are plenty of higher diploma courses in psychology. Including this one in UCC http://www.ucc.ie/en/study/postgrad/what/acsss/hdip/psych/.

    I think there's one in Trinity as well.

    I will definitely look to see about the conversion course in Trinity too.

    Hey there, im hoping to get into an arts degree in NUIM in sept and like you will want to fight for a place in psychology next year. I'm hearing lots of reports of how difficult it is and I wanted to see if you could give me any tips, like the the names of the texts you use for the year, the modules, types of assignments and a recommended reading list???? Maybe this will help me. I'm really into psychology and would go another route like your thinking of doing if I don't get in.

    Is it true that lots of people that were excepted into MH106 drop out due to how difficult the course is and how stressed they become??
