I just need a room...

Hi, I'm new here and hope someone can give me a bit of advice.

I'm planing to get married next year, it's gonna be a very small and informal thing (15 people) but I just can't find anything that would suit for the ceremony. All I know so far is that we will probably go with the humanist because they seem to be the most flexible. But we need a place for the actual ceremony.
    Church is not an option.
Not very keen on a hotel: we dont want a whole package of dinner/reception/etc there (but might consider if they only rent a room...like a meeting room - has anyone done that??)
It has to be in Dublin (ideally city centre or south Dublin)
I basically just need a room that we can decorate ourself (dream was to get married in a dark(ish) room with starlights on ceilings , candles around, etc.) If the room can only be booked with a dinner, then I might consider that too, I would like something private, but not huge coz I think that it would just look ridiculous with 15 people.

Am I too picky? Or do I just search in the wrong places?
Any ideas or suggestions are welcome, no matter how weird... :)

    THANKS!

I'm not sure if this would appeal but Elbahia is a Moroccan restaurant just off Grafton St with lots of separate rooms in it. I've been in there once and as far as I remember it was a darker quieter space.

Have you looked at this site? The Vaults at Christchurch look amazing and would fit your remit (which I LOVE, by the way!!). I think it's a bit pricey though but it would be a stunning venue for the ceremony.

Thanks a lot for the suggestion, RHN Ireland. H2B probably wont like it though...
Just wanted to add that the room doesn't have to be dark originally, we can buy the decoration stuff (black linen etc), so even a more brighter room would be fine, as long as its not too big...

You could also talk to An Taisce about just renting the Lower Hall of the Tailors' Hall - their upper hall is very light and airy and would probably be too big for 15 people, but the downstairs room is much smaller and feels much more like a really old tavern, than anything else. The photo here shows about 2/3 of the room (the fireplace is in the middle of the wall): http://www.antaisce.ie/tailorshall/YourWedding/LowerHall.aspx

They're pretty flexible about the decoration, too, as long as the fabric of the building isn't mucked about with, because it's so historic. They do have an in-house caterer for wedding dinners, but I don't think that's obligatory, if you just wanted to rent the building (or part of it, maybe?)

If I was getting married in Dublin I would try Dublin City Hall near dublin Castle.
The rotunda in there looks great

I know it doesn't fit your brief but it's a pretty spectacular setting.

    Info here.
