Hi, I am trying to source a half decent washing machine for around €250 - €300. I found a Finlux 8kg 1200spin one in Harvey Norman for €249. Am checking out this forum to see does anyone have experience with this brand? I seem to go through washing machine at an average of one every 3-4 years so have decided will not be investing in expensive machines anymore but at the same time don't want a ball of dirt either! Any advice appreciated!

Finlux is a Harvey Norman own brand and I'd recommend staying away from own brands.

Opinion will vary on different manufacturers for example some people will love hotpoint and some people hate it.

I'd recommend putting out a little extra money and buying a bosch. They have gone down in price a lot and are very reliable.

    God bless the Germans :D

With regards the Bosch, IIRC, there's a certain model range to avoid, and a range to consider. I just can't remember, but somebody on here had mentioned it some weeks ago.

Thanks for the advice guys. I ordered this machine today with a parts and labour extended warranty of 5 years for an extra 50 quid. As I said my average machine life is around 3-4 years so if I am guaranteed 5 years for 320 I would be happy with that. Knowing my luck I will live to regret it but sure sometimes the ****ty cheap stuff is the stuff that lasts longest in my experience!

Not so bad when all is covered for 5 years.

Bought a Finlux last August in Harvey Normans, decided to go the cheap route as we have our washer & dryer in the shed so no need for bells and whistles etc, 2 weeks ago the plastic agitators that are attached to the drum broke off, rang HN and they arranged service call, guy called and replaced them within 2 days. 4 washes later new ones broke off again!!! Called HN and same thing, service call and new replacements. Hope these last longer ;)

I have one of these - supplied by landlord - it does a good job of the washing but a wash can take up to THREE HOURS! Does anyone else have a similar problem?

ic frith do harvey normans extended warranty and you could fine them saying we dont cover this and we dont cover that . could of gone with a 8 kg beko which would of been better than the finlux or a 8 kg zanussi zwn7120 for 329

Be careful with BEKO , when you ring there service line it takes 5 mins to get through the warnings and messages about recalls. Washing machines no matter what brand can be trouble. But the biggest probs with them are us.:P

I've on my third finlux from Harvey Norman in 2 years. The first two were replaced after 3 call outs each. The third one is so far ok. Lucky I took the 5 year warranty!!!

Christ, that's a lot of calls and replacements within 2 years!

Were you given options to choose something other than a Finlux?

No offer of alternative machine, its a 5kg, 1000 rpm spin. i was told that the third machine replacement is much improved! Time will tell
