I get the feeling that the general population, especially around where I live (Waterford) is slightly depressed. Perhaps it's because it's winter? Perhaps it's because X Factor's finished? Or perhaps it's because petrol prices have got crazy? Or maybe it's because Whitney died?

    Any suggestions?!!!

There's something in the air at the moment. Bad news and ill fortune abounds.

Ha, i've noticed everyones a bit down of late, in college too! Suppose it's the weather, time of year and economy etc.

We need to get the party atmosphere back in this country. I used to hate when people said it in the past but it is true; we need to get some positivity back and start looking on the bright side of things.

If we all changed our psychology we'd soon be out of this mess to a certain degree ( and that's not be overly simplistic ). Happier people spend more: consumption increases: GDP increases: we become richer!

Lets hope for a great summer weather wise to get things back in motion.

Yeah Ireland is depressed, it all seems hopeless and we know we haven't seen the bottom yet we all believe it will get worse.

So i propose the government legalise drugs and put prozac in the water.

Its a lot more brighter than any other town/city in this country imo. Feels pretty unique too.

I dont know op, might just be you projecting your feelings on everything around you? I just get the general idea that everywhere is a bit down in this country. Its hard to be overly happy with all the shíte that has gone on in the past few years.

Depression is our true calling. That bit of prosperity was only an aberration.

you should see what people complain about. The silliest of things! If the celtic tiger was still about wed still find a reason to moan about.

Or maybe it's because Whitney died?
I also believe that Whitney's death will eventually have a positive effect on our nation's mood, given that there will be more mind-altering substances to go around now.

are you from Waterford or just happen to be living there? I lived in Waterford for a year, both in the city and Tramore. I had a great time in Tramore and made a few friends, I cant say the same about the city..

That's the thing... Been here for many years and have seen Waterford really buzzing in the past, but the place seems to be particularly down at present. Maybe it just the weather or the time of year? Summer 2010 was unbelievable in Waterford, it was hot almost every single day and there was an electric atmosphere in the air... Let's just hope we get a barbecue summer this year again!

Indeed, there's something foul in the wind these days. I dislike it intensely.
