Access outside of hours

    I've got to be in college before 06:00 tomorrow, and tcd.ie tells me that the place isn't open before 07:00. However, a colleague of mine is convinced that Front Arch is open from about 05:00. Any idea whether this is true?

    You won't be allowed in before 7.00. Sometimes the gate is physically opened before this time to allow access for rubbish trucks etc, but security will prevent ordinary punters from passing. If you know someone who lives in rooms, and who wouldn't mind getting out of bed before 6.00 tomorrow morning to let you in, then get them to sign you in - but do it now, the book closes midnight.

    Incorrect... I live on campus and was in the 24 hour room pulling an all-nighter once. Went for a breakfast roll on Dame Street around 6am and walked out and back by a wide open Front Arch.

    OP, it does indeed open at around 5am and security couldn't care less who comes in once it's open.

    That varies so, a friend of mine got shouted at for walking through the open gate at 7.30 on a Saturday morning, on his way to the 24 hour.

    I can imagine that happening on a Saturday, but on weekdays there's a fair bit of activity early in the morning. In my experience, they just open up the gates and people start coming and going.

    I've been stopped and ID'ed a few times around 6am, That damn spar across the way is just so tempting when you can't sleep!
