Quick one folks - I'm trying to get into an M4 here but the motor is stuck, the pinion is catching on something and won't come out. I'm hoping not to have to split the grip - any thoughts on how to proceed would be appreciated!

it should come out after all it went in! just wriggle the motor about while maintaining a gentle pull on the motor!

You have evidentally spent tine trying to wriggle out of place-the pinion is cauogt on the motor wire- it will be nigh on impossible to pull it through/past the wire-I'm afraid you have already answered the question yourself-have to cut off the grip:(

Or pull hard enough on the motor so it breaks the wire. Depending on the pistol grip it might be the cheaper option just to install some new wire

Cheers fellas, actually cut up the grip, motor was caught on the wiring alright, wouldn't mind I could have pulled it through the wire as I have to replace it anyways, now I gotta get a new grip too! Got a new problem now though - aftermarket switch is slightly different to the stock one, it has contacts at the back for the selector plate, but the original doesn't. The selector doesn't have contacts, I'm wondering how to make it fit and where to solder....

Maybe join up the selector contacts at the back to make the circuit, there seems to be room...

You have a couple of options.

Solder a wire to the contacts to bridge them, push them flat afterwards.
    Get a new selector plate.
Or finally if your old contacts are still good try installing them into the new housing :)

Bridged the contacts - sanded the solder back a bit, seems to have done the trick! The gun is shooting well now. Fixing it as a favour so I'm not arsed with a new selector plate or anything that's gonna be any more bother. If it was my own I'd probably do a bit more with it but it isn't so I'm not!:o To be honest I'll be glad to see the back of it, it was a frustrating AEG. Thanks for the replies guys
