Restore HTC desire HD to standard android

Is it possible to restore a htc desire hd to a standard android, something like what comes on the galaxy nexus (no htc stuff) I doubt i can get ICS but I don't use HTC sense (use go launcher ex) and would prefer to have it standard if you get me.

Root it, install Cyanogenmod 9 and install the g apps zip and you will have a senseless phone, instructions over on XDA
