Hi guys, have been busy reading and loving your thread this morning.
I did paleo last year for a few months lost a load of weight and then for some crazy reason stopped doing it and piled it all back on again

anyway, am back on board again and doing ok, week 1 down, 4lbs down.

Loving the recipe suggestions. I have 'Everyday Paleo' at home and find it great for family-friendly recipes but you can never have too many ideas :D - did anyone try making those nut bars and were they any good? I'm worried they'll taste too good and i wont be able to stop myself.

I have that book on kindle, I love Sarah! Have you listened to their podcast? it's excellent.
Gummy Panda did make the bars as far as I know. I made a diff version (the ones on Transforms website). I am a bit too partial to them so won't make them again I don't think.
Another great book/site is Well fed/theclothesmakethegirl blogspot.

I am reluctant to paleo bake because I know I will scoff it all :(

I ate wheat last weekend and was punished all week long! As of this morning I have lost 12lbs in 39 days. I am glad I did the wheat thing last weekend. I learned a very valuable lesson and see no reason to repeat it.

I'm going to make paleo paella later. Watch this space.

Cook everything the way you would for a traditional paella without the rice. When it's just about ready add grated rice, cook for 8 minutes & serve. I'll let you know how it goes :-)

Slip of the tongue, no fault of the mind :D

It was nice. I will make it again but I need more protein in it.

Weight creeping up and not happy about it. Have to stop dipping into almond butter, coconut flakes etc

    Dinner is simmering away
    Ha ha wrong pic!
    Chocolate Chilli
Going to have with salad and guacamole.

Bought sauerkraut to try today in anticipation of the step after next.

    8. Take out all non-fermented or non-raw dairy (e.g. raw milk cheese). Some purists say “all dairy” — I say take it all out, add fermented stuff back in slowly, and see if your skin breaks out or you get sniffly. Butter is usually OK, as is real whipping cream (read the label — often it contains milk.)

So I need to change the milk in my coffee to cream? Drop the greek yogurt & fruit breakfast too? Or is that "fermented"? What about cheese?
I have bought coconut milk to use in my protein shakes (yeah yeah I know it's milk whey!)

Is fermented dairy the likes of blue cheeses then, and natural pribiotic yogurts, kefir? Kimchi is great too but hard to get considering it's Japan's staple ingredient as much as our spuds are.
I've decided to hang onto the dairy for now, though I very rarely have cheese, if ever, and where I was used to having a soy coffee, I think milk is the better option strangely.

Made some kale crunchies last night. Had roasted some veg so just put the oven really low after and put it in. It's important to toss it about a few times during http://www.paleo-breakfast.com/paleo-recipes-healthy-diet-you-should-eat-paleo-diet-breakfastthe baking I think. Easy:)

Cream in your coffee sounds so heavy DCD even though the yanks do it. Good luck with that one:)

My aim this week is to ease off on the almond butter and nuts. Not too hard really...I say that now!

lol, I always thought kimchi was a vegetable, I guess because I always see it referenced beside saurkraut!
Cream in coffee is nice! Quite rich as you'd imagine. The Americans use "creamer" which is sweetened flavoured muck as far as I can ascertain.

oh look what I found - Irish paleo blog

As I don't eat dairy & havent for years I'm not the person to ask but I would cut it all out.

I couldn't figure out the significance of the photo LOL.

How long has the weight creep been happening for? Are you stil logging in MFP? What level of carbs are you at these days?

I am down 13lbs since Jan 4th which I'm very happy with. I need to lose the same again to get down into the next size jeans I have :-(

Yoikes - not sure I could face black coffee...the fruit/yogurt is an easy brekky but I can certainly re-think.

2 weeks ago ( after my first week of no sugar) I dropped to 126.6 , today 129.2  My carbs are between 70g-120g daily..yes still logging in to mfp. eat 1600 cals, don't eat back exercise.

I just tried Kale for the first time! Was lovely!! I made the crisps with half the bag and steamed the rest of it... Really really nice even though I used a bit too much salt on the crisps but will definitely be having it again!

I'm so annoyed that I can't find Kale anywhere. :(

Try Dunnes Stores - they were doing an offer this week and my OH picked up a bag of carrots(not for me, too sweet), broccoli, cauli and kale for 4 euro.

I just used about 4 'leaves' of the kale and ended up with about double the amount of the bought bag of kale crisps. Flavoured the crisps with some salt, pepper and a little chippotle powder.... nom, nom

Noworries, where do you get the chipotle?

Weight is on the downward creep, yay. Cut back on snacking & drinking lots of water. 128 this morning.
Eating out this evening which will be a challenge, esp as 2 of the girls I haven't seen in years, hard to order off menu without drawing questions.

Tried Dunnes. Just don't think it's managed to make it's way down to Galway.

I was in Fallon & Byrnes on Saturday stocking up for the amazing Chilli recipie in the Cooking Club forum created by Sparks (did not use beans (legumes) I swear;)). There is a little Mexican ingredients section near the cheese counter where they stock a number of The Chilli Co. products.

That's also where I got my packaged Kale Crisps for 2.75 but after looking at this thread I just had to make my own- now the whole family are converted - I am slowly converting them all to paleo ;)

I have only been out a couple of times since starting the Primal/Paleo lifestyle a month ago but I found that on both occassions a steak and some veg was an easy option for main and the starters offered usually have some sort of seafood salad (dressing on the side please) conformed about 90%.

Enjoy your night out and bask in the envy ;)

That's way to long for the kale crisps IMO.

My wife makes them often and it's 8mins max or they will burn.

Try it, but really surprised people recommending 20mins

    +1
Even after 6 minutes I was watching the second hand on the clock as I could see them starting to turn. 8 minutes max.
